Description

Holding device for holding at least one tube The invention relates to a holding device for holding at least one tube, in particular at least one tube for a transmission cooling fluid. The holding device comprises a first part having a recess which is configured to partially accommodate the at least one tube. The holding device further comprises a second part having a further recess. The further recess is also configured to partially accommodate the at least one tube. The first part and the second part can be fixed to one another in order to hold the at least one tube in a space which is defined by the recess of the first part and by the further recess.
During the installation of transmission cooling lines or transmission cooling tubes of for example an automobile transmission, such a holding device is utilized. The holding device or clamp has two pieces or parts with a first recess in the first part, which is symmetrical to a second recess in the second part. These mirrored pieces or parts can be fixed to one another by a bolt which pulls the two parts together. However, it is very difficult to push these two parts together by hand.
An additional person is therefore required to hold the line or tube on the clamp. Therefore holding the at least one tube by means of the holding device or clamp is rather laborious.
It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide an improved holding device of the initially mentioned kind.
This object is solved by a holding device having the features of claim 1. Advantageous configurations with convenient further developments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.
In the holding device according to the invention the recess of the first part is configured to clamp the at least one tube. Therefore the at least one tube can be pushed into the recess of the first part, and the at least one tube stays in place. No additional person is required to hold the at least one tube within the recess. Rather, the first part can be snapped on the at least one tube by accommodating the at least one tube in the recess of the first part, wherein the recess clamps the at least one tube.
Such a holding device facilitates the installation of the tubes, which can in particular be tubes for a cooling fluid which is utilized in an automobile transmission. Therefore, the installation of such tubes requires less time at a plant in which the installation takes place.
As the recess of the first part is configured as a snap feature, fixing the at least one tube to the first pad can be achieved in a particularly easy way. This results in a saving of time at the plant. Further, a particularly high accuracy can be achieved during installation. This improves the overall quality in the installation of the at least one tube.
Clamping or snapping the first part of the holding device to the at least one tube can be particularly easily achieved, if the recess of the first part is configured to enclose more than one half of a perimeter of the at least one tube to be accommodated within the space. In other words the first part and the second part are not configured as mirrored pieces. Rather, there is an offset between the two pads, which results in a design that allows the first part to snap on the tube.
A particularly good fixation of the at least one tube by means of the holding device can be achieved, if the recess of the first part and the further recess are configured to circumferentially enclose the at least one tube to be accommodated within the space. The space defined by the recess of the first part and the further recess can in particular be circular in cross-section in order to accommodate a tube which has a circular outer perimeter.
It has further proven advantageous, if the first part has at least one latching element configured to cooperate with a corresponding latching element of the second part. This facilitates fixing the first pad and the second part to one another as the parts can easily be pushed in place. Once the second part is held by the latching element of the first pad, the second pad stays on the first part, and no further operation by a workman is necessary to fix the first part and the second part to one another.
The at least one latching element of the first part can be formed as a tongue with a protrusion configured to engage behind the corresponding latching element of the second part. In particular two tongues with a corresponding protrusion can be provided on opposite sides of the first part. The corresponding latching element of the second part can in particular be formed as a web or edge, behind which the protrusion engages as the two parts are snapped together.
The tongue with the protrusion or such a tap-snap feature can in particular be provided at one end of the first part and can be configured to grab onto the web or edge of the second part.
The holding device can in particular be configured to hold two tubes in corresponding spaces defined by two recesses of the first part which cooperate with two further recesses of the second part. Thus, two tubes can particularly easily be held in place by means of the holding device.
The first part can comprise a through-hole which is in alignment with a further through-hole provided in the second part upon fixing the first part and the second part to one another. Such a through-hole can be utilized to fix the holding device holding the at least one tube to a further component. In particular, an object such as a bolt or the like can be passed through the through-hole to achieve such a fixation.
The through-hole of one of the parts, in particular of the first part, can comprise a further latching element. This further latching element can be configured to fix an object which can be inserted into the through-hole. Such an internal snap feature facilitates fixing the holding device holding the at least one tube to another component by means of the object.
Holding the at least one tube in a particularly secure manner can be achieved, if a contact region in which the first part abuts against the second part is substantially flat.
Finally, the first part and/or the second part can comprise at least one rib on an outer surface. Such ribs increase the rigidity of the first part and/or the second part without increasing a weight of the first part and/or of the second part too much.
The features and feature combinations mentioned above in the description as well as the features and feature combinations mentioned below in the description of figures and/or shown in the figures alone are usable not only in the respectively specified combination, but also in other combinations or alone, without departing from the scope of the invention.
Thus, implementations are also to be considered as encompassed and disclosed by the invention, which are not explicitly shown in the figures or explained, but arise from and can be generated by separated feature combinations from the explained implementations.
Further advantages, features and details of the invention are apparent from the claims, the following description of preferred embodiments as well as based on the drawings.
Therein show: Fig. 1 in a side view a holding device in the form of a clamp for holding two tubes with circular cross-section, wherein the clamp comprises a first part and a second part which are not symmetrical or mirrored; Fig. 2 in a perspective view the first part of the clamp having two tongues with wedge-shaped protrusions as latching elements; Fig. 3 a further perspective view of the first part having stiffening ribs on an outer surface; Fig. 4 a perspective view of the second part also having stiffening ribs on an outer surface; Fig. 5 a perspective view of the second part showing a flat contact region which abuts against a corresponding flat contact region of the first part as the two parts are fixed together; Fig. 6 a section view of the second part along a line VI-VI in fig. 5; Fig. 7 a side view of the first part; and Fig. 8 a section view of the first part along a line VIll-VIll in fig. 3.
A holding device 10 in the form of a clamp comprises a first part 12 and a second part 14.
The holding device 10 is utilized during the installation of transmission cooling lines, i.e. tubes for a cooling fluid utilized in an automobile transmission. The holding device 10 is configured to hold two tubes (not shown). To achieve this, each of the two parts 12, 14 has two recesses 16, 18. Each recess 16 of the first part cooperates with a corresponding further recess 18 of the second part to define a corresponding space 20, 22 for the two tubes. In other words, a first space 20 is delimited by a first recess 16 of the first part 12 and by a first further recess 18 of the second part 14. The second space 22 for the second tube is delimited by a second recess 16 of the first part 12 and by a second further recess 18 of the second part 14.
However, the shapes of these recesses 16, 18, which are configured to circumferentially enclose the corresponding tube, are not equal. Rather, the recess 16 of the first part 12 is configured to enclose more than one half of a perimeter of the tube to be accommodated within the corresponding space 20, 22. The space 20, 22 is circular in cross-section in the embodiment shown in the figures.
Due to this shape of the recess 16 of the first part 12, the first part 12 is configured to snap on the two tubes or to clamp the two tubes. Thus, the first part 12 stays on the two tubes which are pushed into the corresponding recess 16 during installation of the transmission cooling tubes.
A symmetrical plane 24 diving the two spaces 20, 22 into equal halves is indicated by a line in fig. 1. As can be well seen from fig. 1, the first part 12 has an offset portion which is located on the same side of the symmetrical plane 24 as the second part 14. The two parts 12, 14 are thus not mirrored.
As can be well seen from fig. 2, the first part 12 has a contact region 26 which abuts against a contact region 28 of the second part 14 (see fig. 5) as the two parts 12, 14 are fixed to one another. To easily fix the two parts 12, 14 to one another, one of the parts 12, 14, in the embodiment shown the first part 12, has two latching elements in the form of tongues 30 with an inwardly projecting, wedge-shaped nose or protrusion 32. The two tongues 30 are provided at opposite end portions 34, 36 of the first part 12.
It can further be seen from fig. 2 that the first part 12 has a central through-hole 38. At a circumference of the through-hole 38 resilient latching elements 40 are provided, which each have a nose 42 projecting towards a centre of the through-hole 38. These internal snap features allow to fix an object inserted into the through-hole 38.
As can be well seen from fig. 3, on an outer surface 44 of the first part 12 several ribs 46 are provided, which increase a rigidity of the first part 12.
As can be well seen from fig. 4, the second part 14 also has several ribs 48 on an outer surface, i.e. on a surface which faces away from the recesses 18 for the two tubes.
Further, also the second part 14 has a central through-hole 50, i.e. a through-hole 50 which is located between the two recesses 18 for the two tubes.
As the two parts 12, 14 are fixed to each other, the two protrusions 32 engage behind a corresponding web 52 or edge provided on opposite sides of the second part 14 (see fig. 6). The two tongues 30 with the wedge-shaped protrusions 32 are thus configured as tap-snap features, which grab onto the edges or webs 52 of the second part 14. When the second part 14 is thus fixed to the first part 12, the contact regions 26, 28 are in abutment with each other, and the trough-holes 38, 50 are in alignment with each other.
From the side view in fig. 7 the wedge-shaped form of the protrusions 32 of the tongues can be particularly well derived. Also the two tongues 30 extend slightly into an outward direction, i.e. the tongues 30 have an inclination with respect to a central axis passing through the through-hole 38 provided in the first part 12. Further, it can well be seen from fig. 7 that the recesses 16 in the first part 12 are configured to enclose slightly more than one half of the circular perimeter of the two tubes which shall be accommodated within the spaces 20, 22.
From fig. 8 it can be particularly well seen that openings 54 are provided next to the resilient latching elements 40 having the noses 42. These openings 54 allow the latching elements 40 to slightly move away from the center of the through-hole 38 as an object is inserted into the through-hole 38.
