Abstract

251,892. Marriott, G. C. C., and D.M.S., Ltd. Dec. 4, 1925. Retractive switches for the steering wheels of motor-cars comprise two disc members G, I, mounted on the boss B of the steering wheel A, each member having a series of radial arms G<1> or P carrying contacts H or K and the series of arms I<1> carrying or being formed with a ring J situated near the wheel A so that when the ring J is depressed by the driver one or more of the contacts K engage the contacts H and close the circuit to a horn. The arms I<1> are springy, and the arms G<1> may be springy or rigid. The discs G, I are separated from the steering column E by an insulating collar R and insulating washers are also placed above and below the discs. The discs and washers are also formed with corresponding indents to prevent relative rotation when assembled.
