Abstract

A paint holder that consists of an L-shaped frame having horizontal 2 and vertical 3 surfaces, a paint aperture/holder 1 located in the horizontal surface and attachment means 6 to secure the side vertical face to a person. The device may preferably have a means to secure one or more paint brushes through the use of a clip 5A, B. The means of attachment 6 to secure the horizontal surface to a person may consist of one or more slots and preferably be of an ergonomic design.

Description

TITLE: Paint Holder The present invention relates to a paint holder.
When painting, it is common practice to hold a paint can in one hand and a paint brush in another. If it is desired to climb a ladder or perform another operation requiring the use of at least one hand, it is not possible to hold either the brush and/or the paint can at the same time.
It is common practice then to leave the paint can on a table or floor having applied paint to the brush, and then move with the brush to a surface requiring decoration to apply the paint. This is time consuming and tiring especially if a decorator has to go back to the paint can repeatedly to re-charge the brush with paint.
The invention seeks to provide a solution to this problem.
According to the present invention there is provided a paint holder comprising: a) a substantially L-shaped frame having, in use, a top horizontal surface and a side vertical surface, b) holding means on the top horizontal surface to hold a supply of paint, and c) attachment means to secure the side vertical surface to a person, in use a user can transport a supply of paint in the holding means to a surface to be painted.
Preferably the top horizontal surface further includes one or more brush securement devices to hold one or more brushes, preferably with the brush bristles over the holding means. The or each securement device may be a clip.
The holding means may be at least one circular aperture to receive a paint can or a paint kettle.
Alternatively the holding means could be a receptacle integral with the top horizontal surface.
The attachment means may include one or more slots to receive a user's heft.
The side vertical surface may be curved to accommodate a curved surface of the user's body.
The paint holder may be formed as a unitaiy component such as a plastics moulding.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Referring to the drawing there is shown a paint holder I. Pain holder 1 has a substantially L-shaped frame having, in use, a top horizontal surface 2 and a side vertical surface 3. Holder I may be formed as a unitary component such as a plastics moulding, e.g. injected moulded or vacuum formed..
Holding means in the fonu of a substantially central circular aperture 4 with a lower inwardly diwedflange4kApere4isadaptedtoreceiveapaintkettle(notshown)withan outwardly directed circular flange around an open face to engage with inwardly directed flange 4k Such a kettle can be filled with a supply of paint. Such a kettle may be moulded of plastics.
Alternatively The holding means could be a receptacle integral with the top horizontal surfitce, or a paint can could be placed in the aperture 4.
The top horizontal surface further includes one or more brush securement devices to hold one or more brushes in the form of a pair of clips 5A,58. Clips 5A,58 can each embrace the handle ofabrushwiththebrushbristlesoverakettleinaperture4tocatchpaintdripsfromthe bristles.
Attachment means in the lbrm of vertical slots 6 are provided. A user's belt can be threaded through two or more slots to secure the side vertical surface to a person. The side vertical surface 3 may be curved as shown to accommodate a curved surface of the user's body, such as the abdomen adjacent a belt.
In use a user can transport a supply of paint in the holding means to a surface to be painted.
Theholderallowsausertotransporthandsfreethepainttothcsurfacctobepaintcd. Oncor two brushes (e.g. two different sizes of brush) can also be held in the clips 5A,5B whilst the holder is Iransported.
It is envisaged that the holder could be supplied with one or more paint kettles for placement in aperture 4. Two or more kettles, each with different paint, would allow a user to change kettles whilst applying different paint to different surfaces.
The invention may take a form different to that specifically described above.
Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
