Abstract
A stand, for holding a hand held electronic device, comprises a stand base 1a and support plate 1b having, for example, micro-suction pads or reusable adhesive pads 1c for holding the device of the support plate 1b. The stand may be held in place by, for example, micro-suction pads or reusable adhesive pads 1d. A magnetic rotation mechanism (2a, fig 2) comprises a steel ball attached to the support plate 1b and a magnet in a spherical socket (3a, fig 3) in the base 1a, the ball (2a) is attracted to the magnet (3a) thereby connecting the plate 1b to the base 1a. The magnetic rotation mechanism (2a, fig 2) allows the device to be moved and held in a wide range of angles and orientations. The reusable adhesive may comprise a polyurethane sticky gel. The device may be a mobile phone or a tablet pc or a media player of a mini computer etc.

Hand Held Electronic Device Stand
Background
The present invention relates to apparatus and methods for a stand for hand held electronic devices. In particular, the present invention is designed to use a magnetic mechanism to provide free rotation of viewing angle.
Current mount/stands are available for hand held electronic devices however they are all restricted to a finite set of viewing angles and/or move away from the surface when being detached from the hand held electronic device.
The present invention seek to litigate the problem of the prior art.
Brief Summary
The invention would be as follows, a stand for hand held electronic devices. The stand will remain situated on the surface when changing the viewing angle and/or removing the device by a form of suction/reusable adhesive material positioned on the base of the stand. A form of a magnet will be used as the mechanism by which free' rotation/adjustment of viewing angle can be achieved.
The spherical ball; which is subject to a magnetic field omitted by a magnet held in the base of the stand, used will be attached to a supporting plate that's has a form of suction or reusable adhesive material on the face to hold a hand held device in the desired orientation.
The rotation mechanism will assist in holding the hand held device in wide range of angles and positions.
The suction/reusable adhesive material will allow users to securely hold their hand held electronic devices with skins and cases.
A better understanding of the nature and advantages of the present invention may be gained from reference to the following detailed description and the accompanying drawings.
Detailed Description
The invention pertains to two main elements which make up the stand; the base and the support plate.
The support plate is fitted with a material which has a property to stick/attach to flat object without leaving any residue; this allows adequate support and attachment of a hand held device. The base is also fitted with sticky/attachable material which allows the stand to remain attached to the given flat surface when the device is being used for stability.
For the purposes of discussion, a hand held electronic device is of such a size and proportion that it may be held in the hand to allow it to be portable; the device need not be fully enclosed in a person's hand.
Examples of hand held electronic device include but are not limited to mobile phones, media players, tablet pc's and mini computers.
The stand is machined from two pieces of material. The stand encompasses machined features as described: A blind hole in the base to cater for the magnetic body. The magnetic body would then be placed inside the hole and secured using a suitable adhesive and/or physical locking method such as a threaded bar.
The supporting plate has a blind threaded hole which allows the steel ball to be attached and is also secured into place using a suitable adhesive.
The two elements can then be brought together to make up the stand. The magnetic mechanism via the steel ball connects the plate and base.
Thereafter the stand can be placed on to a smooth flat surface, ready for use. The suction/reusable adhesive base provides the fixation and stability the stand requires to stay in place whilst using a hand held electronic device.
The hand held device is then placed with a little pressure on to the supporting plate; The stand is of a scalable design thus enabling it to be adapted and functional with various sized hand held electronic devices.
Brief Description of the Drawings
Figure 1 shows the front view of the stand Figure 2 shows the rear and base view of the stand Figures 3 shows the base supporting plate detached Figure 1 shows the front view of the stand which is machined from two pieces of material. The stand encompasses of the following described: la. shows the base which houses the magnet.
lb. shows the support plate, which will be used to hold the tablet via the suction/reusable adhesive pads.
ic shows micro-suction/reusable adhesive pads used to hold the hand held electronic devices to the support plate.
id. shows micro-suction/reusable adhesive pads used to hold the stand to flat/smooth surfaces to stabilise when being used.
Figure 2 shows the rear view of the stand.
2a. shows the steel ball which is attached to the support plate. The steel ball coupled with the magnet creates the rotation mechanism.
Figure 3 shows the base and support plate detached 3a. shows the where the magnet is housed within the base.
