Description
I
A Face Painting System This invention relates to a device for the supply and application of face paints Face paints are traditionally supplied in pots containing single colours, or pallets containing multiple colours of face paint. These paints are typically supplied in containers with suitable volumes so as to be used on multiple occasions, and are applied with a brush, sponge or a finger.
During sporting events it is common for supporters to apply face paints in their team or country colours, this is often done by applying stripes of colour relating to the team or country. The face paints are typically applied as blocks of solid colour. As teams and countries often feature the same colours in their logos, emblems or kit, it can be hard to determine which team the user is supporting. Also, for some sporting events such as motor sport racing or cycling events, the user may not be able to accurately show their support for a team or athlete by means of face painting without the use of logos, motifs or emblems.
Similarly, if the face paints arc purchased or applied at an event, or in a communal viewing area such as a public house, as is often the case, it is difficult to apply the face paints to accurately represent a logo or motif where there are little facilities and without purchasing and carrying a number of different coloured face paints and application aids.
It is also common for both adults and children to apply face paints for fancy dress parties, charity events or special occasions. These events are often infrequent and often require different and unique colours and/or designs to be applied for each event. The fact that that different coloured face paints are usually sold as individual colours means having to buy a number of different face paints for each event. The face paints arc often supplied in volumes so as to allow for use on multiple occasions which means there is often a large amount of waste face paint, especially if the face paints were bought for a one off event.
That subsequent events may require different colours or designs means that the user often has to buy a new set of coloured face paints and application aids. Similarly, existing devices to aid in the application of face paints generally have to be purchased separately and are again intended for multiple uses, which may be inappropriate if they are to be used for a one off event.
According to the present invention there is provided a flice painting device for the supply and application of face paints comprising a carrier, preferably made of cardboard, containing a plurality of panels, further to the afore mentioned, these panels shall consist of, panels containing a plurality of face paints applied to the carrier through means of printing, panels containing a plurality of cut out stencils and panels containing instructions and other information.
The present invention provides the user with a fun way of applying face paints where in all the components necessary for quicldy and simply creating accurate logos, motifs, themes and designs are contained in one device. The fact that the face paint is supplied in a volume designed for single use means there is less waste when used for special or one off events.
Furthermore, that all the items are contained in one device, and by virtue of the materials used to manufacture the device, allows for a cheaper method of manufacture and therefore cost to the user, allowing the device to be treated as a novelty item, and also allowing for easier recycling and disposal of the device after use.
The device may contain a specific combination of cut out stencil designs, logos and motifs, as well as specific face paint colours so as when combined can be easily recognised as relating to a specific club, team or business or so as to relate to a specific event or theme, and shall be produced in accordance with the appropriate Intellectual Property Laws, through licensing agreement with the appropriate club, team, event or business or as is so required by Law.
The ability of the device to be tailored for different events, by supplying cards with differing colours, logos and motifs, and that the invention contains all the necessary components in one device, with the colours and stencils tailored specifically to a single club, team, event, theme or company means that the user only has to buy one item rather than a number of different face paints and application aids. That the quantity of face paint in the product is supplied as such that it is intended only for single use means that there is little left over face paint to subsequently store and as such is designed to be disposed of after a single use. That the cut out stencils is specific to a club, team, event, theme or company allows the user to more accurately show their support and/or apply the face paints in a more accurate and visually appealing manner.
The device is also easier to transport and store than traditional face paints, and provides traders with a single device that is tailored to a specific team, club or event allowing them to provide a more specific product without having to stock a wide variety of face paints and devices. This allows for the product to be treated as a novelty item by users who may not want to apply face paints on a regular basis and who require a device to accurately show their support for a one off event.
The device may contain any number of panels, and each panel may have any number of different coloured face paints and cut ont stencils. However, preferably the device comprises three panels, containing three different coloured face paints and three cut out stencils. Preferably, the device further comprises an additional panel featuring instructions and further information. The reverse of the aforementioned panels would typically contain further information, diagrams and marketing information. There may also be contained within, a device to aid in its display, preferably consisting of a cut out slot or aperture. The device may also contain a perforation between the panels, allowing adjacent panels to be separated should so be required. Preferably the device will be supplied to the user folded so as the size appears to be that of a single panel, therefore allowing for easier transportation, storage and display. Preferably the device will be manufactured with rounded corners so as to avoid scratching of the users face.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a simple version of the device in its open state as viewed from the front Figure 2 shows a simple version of the device in its closed state as viewed from the front Figure 3 shows a perspective view of a simple version of the device Figure 4 shows a complex version of the device in its open state as viewed from the front Figure 5 shows a complex version of the device in its closed state as viewed from the front Figure 6 shows a perspective view of a complex version of the device Figures 7 to 11 shows a typical example of the stages used in the application of the device In figure 2, the device is shown in its closed state as would typically be presented to the user, and includes a device for hanging and displaying the device (D.) consisting of a cut out slot. Figure 1 shows a simple version of the device in its open state and shows a plurality of face paints (A.) as well as a plurality of cut out stencils (C.) There is also a panel (B.) for instructions and further information. The device also features a perforation (E.) between panels so a section can be removed if so desired. Typically the reverse of all the panels would also be printed with diagrams, pictures, instructions and marketing information.
Figures 1,2 and 3 also show the device with rounded corners.
In figure 5, a complex version of the device is shown in its closed state as would typically be presented to the user. Figure 4 shows a complex version of the device in its open state and shows a plurality of face paints (A.) applied over a plurality of panels, as well as a plurality of cut out stencils (C.) again over a plurality of panels. There is also a panel (B.) for instructions and further information. Typically the reverse of all the panels would also be printed with diagrams, pictures, instructions and marketing information.
Figures 7 to 11 show a typical example of the stages of use in the application of the device wherein the device (C.) is held to the face as illustrated in Fig 7. The user then moisten the face paint (A.) which then activates the face paint, and applies to the face through the stencil as illustrated in Fig 8. Typically this would be done using a finger, although application is possible with a sponge or brush. The user would then add continuing colours through the various cut out stencils to build up the image as illustrated in Fig 9 until the design is complete as illustrated in Fig 10. The user may then continue to apply the face paints using any combination of the face paints and stencils as they so desire, and to any other part of the face or body as they so desire as shown in illustration Fig 11.
