Abstract
A manhole cover or secure pit lid houses sensors for detecting chemical and biological agents, and environmental monitoring such as temperature, wind speed, weather conditions or pollution. The manhole cover may include electronic counter measures and the ability to use mobile applications such as transmission mapping of mobile data. The cover may interface with and download information from ANPR enabled vehicles and airwave systems. The cover may have a rugged LCD display which may display advertising, have a power usage recording, be able to provide internet via wireless, have voice recording equipment, may assist in tracking of tagged individuals, and may have the ability to connect to a fibre optic street cabinet to provide remote locking.
Description
Description
The design includes chemical and biological sensing equipment. This is another unique concept in the case of manhole covers and would give a tremendous amount of coverage where deployed, which is on the whole were people frequent and the most likely place for a chemical or biological attack.
The product will therefore provide the most enhanced warning available for these types of attacks.
The command and control procedures will be directed through the covers as the spread of the agent used can be traced cover to cover making coordination of responses and evacuations quicker and safer than ever before.
With additional environmental sensors, calculation of agent trajectory can be established potentially saving lives. The environment can also be monitored for other benefits such as weather recording, pollution levels etc. The emergency services could be given safe routes passing units that detect no agents in the vicinity.
Electronic counter measures are part of the design as they can offer protection against remote controlled explosive devices at high profile locations for example.
* *. Mobile applications can be integrated into the manhole cover base unit to provide numerous * . . * * benefits to the operator of the unit. The operator will be a control room operative employed by *:" Hugslock Systems Ltd. *". : Having the capability for Police officers to download ANPR information and Airwave information will * " save the Police time and money and will offer a less labour intensive method of downloading information. The theory is that a particular vehicle can drive over a manhole cover and download information into the manhole cover system via a secure wireless connection.
LCD displays are to be used to provide services such as product advertising, general advice such as directions or public information notices.
Recording power surges and usage was covered in the original patent submitted in 2006, as was the internet service provision. I simply wish to file a new patent which further promotes the options and services the product will offer. Also the option to run mains power is included in the design.
The inclusion of recording equipment would be subject to a major legislation issue around privacy laws. I am just looking to patent the idea which if allowed could be utilised in future designs for covert agencies for instance. -When commenting on automated systems I am referring to smarter cities technology and by including this option I can for instance implement systems that can run utility services more efficiently.
To assist in public safety I have included technologies that would allow for tracking of criminals electronically tagged by the police. The location of the Hugslock units would give a great chance of locating individually tagged people who try to avoid the police.
In the case of all utility networks that rely on additional street furniture such as fibre optic street cabinets for example I have included the ability to extend the remote locking function from the initial street furniture access pit to the street cabinet itself. The reason for this option is to provide the most advanced level of protection for the street furniture, essentially making it any extension of the Hugslock product. 0 ** 3. * . * * . 3* * * SS * S. *5 * S -* *
