Abstract

A pillow carry bag comprises a bag body having a zip 2 going along the top and down completely on both sides allowing the bag to open flat like a book. A pillow 12 can be placed flat inside the open bag by tucking ends of a pillow under sleeves 10 found inside the bag. On one side of the sleeves 10 are pockets 9 to carry toiletries 13. The bag can be zipped up resulting in the pillow 12 folding in half and the toiletries 13 ending up in an upright position whilst being cushioned on both sides by the folded pillow 12. The bag will be carried with a shoulder strap that is clipped to brackets 4 on both sides of the bag. The bag may have a cover flap 1 so that the bag resembles an ordinary bag.

Description

Pillow Carry Bag This invention relates to a bag which allows you to take your own pillow with you in a discreet, easy and stylish way.
In my own experience, whenever I have stayed overnight at relatives or even gone on holiday the most common problem I would face would be finding the right pillow to sleep at night. I would often not sleep properly due to my pillow being either too hard or too soft which would result in me having neck pain and even back pain. No pillow would be as comfortable as the one I was used to at home. I was put off with taking my pillow with me as either I didn't have room to store it or I was embarrassed to carry a full size pillow around.
To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a bag which will allow the user to take their own pillow with them discreetly by folding it in half, to have pockets internally on one side of the bag to carry cosmetics or sleepover items, and to be carried with the help of a shoulder strap.
The bag is preferably made with water proof/water resistant material in order to protect contents of bag from bad weather.
The shoulder strap will preferably be extendable and have a shoulder pad attached to it which can slide up and down the strap for users comfort when carrying.
The bag will preferably be available in different sizes in order to accommodate a range of different sleeping pillows.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows the pillow carry bag fully closed with cover flap down and shoulder strap attached Figure 2 shows the bag with cover flap folded backwards uncovering zip line Figure 3 shows bag with shoulder strap detached whilst being unzipped revealing internal pockets Figure 4 shows bag fully unzipped in birds eye view displaying internal pockets and sleeves Figure 5 shows one end of pillow being tucked under one sleeve inside bag Figure 6 shows both ends of pillow tucked under both sleeves inside bag and cosmetics placed inside internal pockets Figure 7 shows bag being folded and zipped up containing pillow and cosmetics Figure 8 shows bag fully zipped containing pillow and cosmetics with shoulder strap reattached.
Figure 9 shows bag fully closed containing pillow and cosmetics with cover flap down Figure 10 shows shoulder strap with shoulder pad and shoulder strap clips Figure 11 shows fully closed bag from behind with a plain back In figure 1, the bag has a front cover flap land a zip line 2 going along the top and completely down both sides of the bag. The design of the zip line 2 on the bag will allow the bag to open flat like a book. The cover flap 1 allows the bag to look like a regular post boy bag making it discreet looking. A shoulder strap 3 will be clipped onto two semi circle brackets 4 found on both sides of the bag. The brackets 4 will be attached to the bag due to fabric hinges 5 allowing the brackets 4 to face inwards and outwards and will be placed on either side of the side zip 2. When facing inwards the semi circle brackets 4 will meet together allowing the shoulder strap clip 6 to be connected to them.
In figure 2, the front cover flap 1 is folded backwards uncovering the zip line 2 going along the top of the bag with two zip fasteners 7. A horizontal Velcro strip 8 is placed on the front of the bag which was previously attached to the cover flap 1. The cover flap 1 may also be kept in place by a snap on button found on the bag in a similar position to the Velcro strip 8.
In figure 3, the bag is in the process of being unzipped. The shoulder strap 3 is no longer attached to the bag allowing the semi circle brackets 4 to come apart and face outwardly in opposite directions.
This allows zip line 2 running between the brackets 4 to open completely down each side. A number of internal pockets 9 will be sewn inside the bag for carrying toiletries or cosmetics.
In figure 4, the bag is fully unzipped and open fiat like an open book. Inside the bag are two fabric sleeves lOon either side which will allow both sides of the pillow to be tucked inside these sleeves 10. This will result in the pillow lying flat. Sewn onto one side of the sleeves 10 will be pockets 9 to carry cosmetics or toiletries. The base of the bag 11 will be wide in order to reduce any acute bends forming in the pillow when the bag is closed. The wide base 11 will aid the pillow in forming a U' shape when carried in the bag as opposed to a V7 shape therefore reducing any acute folds forming in the pillow and reducing the risk of damage being caused to the pillow overtime.
In figure 5, one side of a pillow 12 is being tucked under one of the fabric sleeves 10.
In figure 6, both sides of the pillow 12 have been tucked under both fabric sleeves 10 resulting in the pillow 12 lying flat. Cosmetics 13 such as shampoo, toothpaste and a toothbrush have been placed inside the internal pockets 9.
In figure 7, the bag is being folded and zipped up with zip fastener 7 with pillow 12 and cosmetics 13 inside.
In figure 8, the bag has been fully zipped by fastener 7 allowing the two sets of semi circle brackets 4 to face inwards and meet. The shoulder strap clip 6 has then been reattached to the bag by being clipped onto the semi circle brackets 4. The cosmetics 13 are now in a fully upright position and are being cushioned equally from the front and back by the folded pillow 12 inside the bag. The cover flap 1 is folded backwards showing the zip line 2.
In figure 9, the bag is now completely closed and ready to be carried via the shoulder strap 3. The cover flap 1 is now back at the front of the bag and held in place by the horizontal Velcro stripS. This allows the user to carry a pillow and cosmetics in a stylish, discreet and easy fashion.
In figure 10, the shoulder strap 3 is shown by itself. It will be made from a durable material and have a clip 6 on each end. The clip itself 6 can be made from metal or plastic. The shoulder strap 3 will feature a shoulder pad 14 which can slide up and down the shoulder strap 3 for comfort when carrying. The shoulder strap 3 will preferably be extendable to allow users of different height to wear the bag easily.
In figure 11, the back of the bag 15 is shown whilst being fully zipped up with cover flap 1 down and shoulder strap 3 attached. The back of the bag 15 will be plain.
Being able to take your own pillow with you will allow the user to have the same comfort and neck support they had at home. This will be especially useful for users with neck or back injuries who have orthopaedic pillows and have trouble sleeping without them. The invention will also benefit people who are allergic to different pillows and give them reassurance that they will sleep easy on their holiday and not worry about the pillows given to them in hotels etc. The present invention is also a more hygienic option as pillows can contain old skin cells, mildew, mould, fungus and dust mites according to research. The bag will be available in different sizes to accommodate a range of pillows.
This can bring benefit to a range of different ages from youngsters doing sleepovers or camping trips to adults who would like to take their pillow with them on holiday. The pillow carry bag can also make long journeys more comfortable for passengers.
