Abstract

A pacifier for a domesticated animal such as a dog or puppy, that is made in one piece. The pacifier has a teat 2, a mouth piece 1 and a handle 3. The teat 2 and mouthpiece 1 may be shaped to suit different species mouth shapes; and may be made from thermoplastic rubber or a similar flexible material thereby allowing the pacifier to pass thorough the animals digestive system without causing any harm. Preferably the handle is short and stocky to prevent it from becoming detached.

Description

Domesticated Animal Pacifier This invention relates to a domesticated animal pacifier.
When the young domesticated animal leaves its mother they often miss the suckling process which can make them anxious. Standard human baby pacifiers are made from hard sharp plastic and are constructed from a number of materials. This makes them easy to break and exposing sharp edges which can cause harm to the young animals especially if swallowed.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a soft compound of thermoplastic rubber that has no sharp edges. This compound or similar is flexible so if the item is swallowed it can bend in order that it can be passed through the digestive system and excreted without causing harm to the animal.
The advantages are as follows:- * It is soft to the touch and does not have any sharp edges and is gentle on the mouth * It is strong so chewing will not cause damage * The stub handle is of solid construction and not easy to remove by chewing * It is constructed in a heat injected mould making it one solid item.
* It is flexible to allow passage through the digestive system if swallowed.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows the design of the animal pacifier.
In figure 1, the mouth piece 1 is made from thermoplastic rubber or similar which is flexible so if swallowed it can be passed through the digestive system. The mouth piece, 1, can be shaped to suit different species mouth shapes. The teat, 2, is of solid construction and moulded with the rest of the pacifier at the same time making it less likely to become detached. The handle, 3, is short and stocky to prevent it becoming detached.
