Description

-I
EXERCISE METHODS WITH VERTICAL POST FOR EXTERNAL USE
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to improvements in the provision of exercise equipment for external use in domestic or commercial environments.
Background
The use of equipment to assist with exercise and physical fitness of individuals is known and comprise various methods of bodily movement combined with suited machinery or apparel. The equipment provides a myriad of differing ways of engaging resistance to the users body and muscle groups by use of carefully construed frame works, usually of a metal variant and holding moveable bars, ropes and apparel with These form gymnasium machines and smaller light weight versions are commonly found on the interior of buildings. These are able to work all required muscle groups of the body including, pectoral, deltoid, biceps and triceps etc. The use-of apparatus for muscular and fitness exercise for exterior or outdoor use is also known and consist mainly of basic framed apparel that are commonly found in parks and public areas. The use of equipment such as speed balls' and fitness bags' H5 well as other variations are also common and can be found usually within the interior of gymnasiums but may sometimes be found in outer buildings such as garages. The most common way to suspend these is to reply on ceiling or roof beams or similar that are present within those buildings and attach the item to these using ropes or chain lengths etc. This tends to be an amateur or D.l.Y fitting carried out to the individuals own requirements.
The changes in the climate and the increasing lack of interior space within buildings and their environments are providing an issue to this usual way of installing fitness or exercise equipment and many companies are trying to produce devices that will take up less room or fold for storage. -Therefore, the desire to workout in exterior spaces where space is available and the temperature is cooler at certain times of day has increased Machines and apparel have appeared in public spaces and have been seen in environments such as beaches and parks for sometime.
The present invention provides a method by which any individual with a minimum of exterior space is able to install equipment to their home and carry out various bodily workouts using at least one single unit applied to a vertical post that is ground or floor mounted.

Summary of the invention
According to the present invention there is provided a method for exercising in external or internal environments using movable., attachable and detachable horizontal extensions from a central post fixture. The posi that may be of any material and shaped diameter is fixed into or onto the ground and can therefore blend into external environments such as a garden. This is possible because in a garden location, for example, a natural wooden post may be used which is common to other colours and forms found in that environment. The post may also be used for other means when the exercise apparel is or is not attached.
This vertical post or pole has incremented holes throughout its vertical length that form repeated entry points for a locking pin or similar. The attached frames and/or apparel also have seated holes that may be aligned with those of the pole and both held in place with an inserted pin or holding method passing through both the extension and the post This allows the user to position at least one extension to any desired height that is suitable for them.
The attachments may form a frame in any required shape that is passed over the top or end of the post at its ultimate height. A collar therefore is provided of a circular or nature that suits the post diameter shape; that is exacting in its diameter to that of the post itself. This collar may be a complete circular form with a hollow centre that is the diameter of the post and is passed over the top and moved downward or upward along the posts shaft to be secured in place at a desired point where one of the holes is present sand aligns with the hole of the collar.
The collar may also have a hinged attachment that allows it to be opened and encase the post from a forward position, with the hinged portion closing and securing or locking behind, to form the pollar shape as previously described and as clearly shown in Figure 1. This would enable a user to attach a collar without having to raise the frame over the full height of the post and slide it down into position. Multiple extension arms or frames with an unlimited type of exercise method attached may be provided and attached to the post at any one period, providing a vertical post or pole that offers the user a multiple of exercise options and gymnasium equipment from a single location; these can be interchanged as desired.
An extension may, for example, provide the means for a boxers speed ball' to be suspended from a chosen height away from the post: The user would choose the height options provided by the through holes in the vertical post and align the hole provided on the extension with it; a pin or similar securing length is then passed into the hole of the extension as they are aligned, through the hole of the post and passes therein until seated securely.
The collar then is unable to move in any direction up or down the post as it is held in place and its movement is stable when in use as the interior diameter of the collar is exacting to that of the post; A user may seat a handled frame extension to a higher level of the post to perform exercises that require a static holding area that is higher than their own posture when standing erect.
They can adjust the holding area to a desired exacting height and hold the handles to pull themselves in an upward motion toward the extended frame, performing an exercise, known as a pull up. This is one example of an unlimited number of exercises that may be carried out. These include taking the same extension with handles and lowering it to an area much closer to the ground. The user may then support their feet onto the frame by placing them in a suitable area and use this to allow them to perform a press up or similar known exercise motion.
With multiple horizontal attachments applied to the central vertical post or pole at any one time, multiple exercises may be carried out forming a tree like visual effect. These may remain in place for any given period and other extensions added or removed or reassembled in any given variation. The same extension may be provided for the entire assembly. For example, if two or more speed balls' are extended from the post at once two or more persons can carry out their use at once, this applies to any apparel attached in this way. For example, two handle extension frames or sports bags.
The vertical post may be formed of any chosen shape, common to which is circular or square and may be formed of wood, metals, alloys or any suitable known or emerging material. For example, a triangular post may be provided and therefore a triangular collar shape would be required of an exacting size, to allow the collar to move over the surface of the vertical post in a close fitting manner to be secured in place using the hole and pin methods, The post therefore may be located in any given environment including gardens or commercial areas, such as companies, commercial gymnasiums, public areas, parks or any known or emerging environment.
The space saving ability and total open method of fixture and application will allow them to be positioned in any area that is required, for example, the roof location of a building.
The stability of the post is paramount and would initially lend itself to a post or pole that is of a single piece that is inserted into a hole in the ground and is held using a cement or concrete formula as with common garden or fence posting. This would be applied into a hole larger than that of the post diameter andonce hardened would seat the post in place securely. The depth of the insertion is optionai and would fall within known or regulated guidelines for post application of this nature in common known or emerging methods and materials. Therefore a service of installing these post would be advised and a professional be appointed to install the post possibly as a separate or inclusive element of the equipment installation. However, as with all installations of this nature it may be suggested that the whole system be provided as a self or D.l.Yinstall for the public with clear and safe instruction. If the chosen location for the post or pole is on a solid grounding or floor, concrete for example, a separate method may be advised.
Known post holders are available that the post or pole seats into, as shown in the Figures.
These are attached to the solid floor or ground via bolts and the post seats therein.
These surface fillings for posts would allow location in any tequired area when combined with those of the option of inserting the pole or post into the earth or ground itself, as previously described.
With the surface mounting the posts can readily be relocated or moved if required and in all cases multiple posts may be installed at any location.
The securing method into the hole of the pin can vary. We disclose a method in the figures of a pin that is inserted into the holes of the attachment and the post thus securing the two together and in place but also has a hooked arm that extends behind the width of the post and rests more around the circumference of the post vertical body.
Once in place the pin fixture is unable to be freely retracted as a portion of it is hooked or positioned around the vertical of the post. To remove the pin therefore, the pin hook has to be raised clear of the post body and its vertical girth sufficiently to allow clearance forthe main pin body to be removed. Owing to variable loading points that are provided on the extensions, further fitness apparel of unlimited nature may be attached thereon. A fixture hoop that is bolted onto the frame, a.s shown in Figure 1 ahd 4 provides an anchor point for any attachable sporting apparel. These may include a sport bag or punch' bag or speed ball' as shown as well as any other desired variable.
Thus, the extension that may be used for exercise motions such as pull ups, reversed press, shoulder exercise or as foot or hand supports for press ups, may also double as support for any other sporting equipment making one extension a multiple application point and provider.
The extensions themselves may be of various and unlimited lengths but must have a fixture ability within their connection point to the post, we have suggested a collar in this case that either inserts over the very top of the post and is moved downward to a suitable fixture point or is an opening or hinged collar that is fitted from the front as the user faces the post and wraps' or closes' around the post vertical and is secured using any number of clasps of pin options.
The horizontal extensions shown in all Figures are at 45 degree angles to the post as they extend but these can be of any variant angle from the vertical post and remain within the method of this disclosure. Any handles or extension bars for gripping or utilizing the extensions may also be of any angle and be of adjustable types that can be altered to suit each usage or visit to the post. An example of this would be the area where the user holds the hand grips on the hand held frame extension, in Figure 1, 2 or 3. These may be adjustable at any desired point to produce a differing angle or poise for the users grip to be altered and to render the exercise more effective owing to the wrist or arms adjustment created thus. This is an unlimited posture. option and can define any angle or shape to the extensions of their angles or cross members of supporting lengths, as shown.
The extensions are shown as collars with straight lengths extending from the post itself in alt figures, these may also be of a tubular, squared length, hollow or solid variable form and the brackets and any individual element be made of any shape or variety providing the performance of each element is not hindered by the shape change& The dimensions and general proportions of all components may vary and remain within the key elements of this disclosure; however guideline statistics exist from working prototypes and are suggested later in this document. The thickness of metals used must provide an agility that allows the least possible wait for handling during usage but also provide a strong and reliant long wearing structure. Examples of this would be at least a 5mm thickness to the collar filling and a suggested inner diameter of the collar of 129mm. These may vary depending on the type of requirements and also the diameter of the post that the collar is being installed onto.
It is suggested that if the post is provided in a diameter or size that does not suit the collar correctly and a loose or erroneous installation would ensue; adaption could be made to the outside of the post using metal strips that may be applied to the full vertical length of the post on at least one side of its surface. These strips may be secured in place using any known or emerging methods, to include screws into hole inputs. The strips may be of a further material such as an alloy or plastic but it is to be considered that the collar is heavy and may damage a material over time. The strips may be a suggested 5mm or over in width and provide a packing process to accommodate the collar and make up for any area that is too wide in the fitting. This may become more apparent or useful when installing the extensions onto a post that already exists on a property which is possible within this proposal.
All tubing made to create the extensions or posts would benefit from having hollow centres and being a tubular form if produced from a metal variant and these extensions would be produced from a 3mm or more tube wall, this may vary accordingly.
The addition of further apparel is considered here including the attachment of any known or desired equipment for use during the person's workout period, these can include attaching water bottles, radio or sound systems, lighting for evening usage and any other unlimited and safe or required items. a -
Brief description of figures
Figures 1 show a dimensional example of the handled extension in position on a post Figures 2 show a single example of one exercise that can be performed using the handled extension in a higher fixture to the post.
Figures 3 show a single example of one exercise that can be performed using the handled extension in a lower fixture to the post Figures 4 show the post with multiple extensions each having different uses
Detailed description of figures
An exercise method with vertical post for external use has a vertical post 5 as shown in Figure 1 which may be existing or be newly installed. A multiple exercise frame 1 is installed to the vertical post 5 by passing an opening within a collar 2 over the upper end of the vertical post 5, as shown in Figure 1 The collar 2 which has a thickness 9 of at least 2-5mm, is then able to pass in an upward and downward direction over the surface of the vertical post 5 as the opening to the centre of the collar 2 is of a suitable diameter to the vertical post 5, allowing the vertical post 5 to pass within the hole to the collar 5 centre. A fractional difference of 1-2mm, as an estimate will allow this to take place.
The collar 2 and therefore the multiple extension frame 1 move together as a single article as they are attached to each other using a moulded or welding methodology.
The vertical post 5 may have a circular diameter or be shaped, for example square' and the collar 2 would be shaped accordingly in its form and measurements to allow movement over the vertical post 5. The vertical post 5 is wooden of a solid nature or a metal, alloy, variable manmade composite of solid or hollow nature. Once deemed to be at the desired height by the user 16, the collar 2 is secured. A collar fixture point 15, as shown in Figure 1, has an opening area into which a fixture pin 7 is inserted. The collar fixture point 15 is aligned by the user with the myriad of spaced fixture holes 6 that are provided down the post 5 in an alignment of evenly or suitably spaced intervals, as shown in all figures.
The collar fixture point 15 is aligned with the entrance of the fixture hole 6 and the fixture pin 7 is inserted thus. As shown in Figure 1. The fixture pin 7 passes through both the collar fixture point 15 and the aligned fixture hole 6, and inside the tubed channel within the vertical post 5. The fixture pin 7 may pass through the entire length of the tubed channel and appear through the opening of the tubed channel of the fixture hole 6, appearing on the adjacent opening on the opposite face of the vertical post 5. The fixture pin has passed through the diameter of the vertical post 5 to appear on the opposite side and thus support the collar 2 and prevents it from moving in an upward or downward direction.
The multiple exercise frame 1 has an extension arm to its right 3 and an extension arm to its left 4. These are attached to the collar 2 and extend as tubed lengths in a preferred horizontal manner. As shown. To the end areas of this particular exercise frame are located handle areas 8. These are to be held by the user 16 when exercising during only certain practices. To the area between extension arms 3, 4, is a cross member 10, as shown. This maybe of a tubular length of suitable material to match that of 3 and 4 or of a differing shape, angle and form. The cross member 10 joins 3 and 4 together and provides stability of overall structure.
To the areas of extension arms 3, 4 that adjoin the collar 2, are provided support flanges, shown on extension arm 4 as 11, in Figure 1.
These provide structural stability to the extension arms 3, 4 and are attached to 3, 4 and the collar 2 via known welding or compounded forming methodology. This adds strength to the overall structure. A support flange 12 is also provided to the extension arm right 3 and provides at least one fixture opening 13, as is provided by 11 on the opposite extension arm left 4.
These fixture openings 13 may appear at any desired point and may form fixture loops 14, as shown in Figure 1 on extension arm left. These points of attachment are used to aftach any desired extension, to include, sports bags or ropes, as shown in figure 4.
The user 16 is able to select any height option that is desired for any different exercises using the fixture hole 6 selections. These may be spaced at any desired uniform or none continual or uniform vertical pattern. The distance between each hole and the amount of holes may differ but at least one or more is required. The multiple extension frame 1A, as shown in Figure 2 is located to a mid-lower portion of the post 5A and held in place by a pin 7A which as an extended form that fits around the rear of the post 5A to prevent itself from removing from the post 5A, as a secure measure. The user 16 is able to perform unlimited chosen bodily exercises using the post 5A and the multiple extension frame 1A. These include lifting themselves from the ground 19, as shown in Figure 2. The post 5A is held using a post holder 18 to the ground 19 using fixture bolts 20. The post SA seats within an opening that is suited to its diameter measurement and diameter shape in an exacting manner.
Figure 3 shows the multiple exercise extension frame 16 in a lower location to the post.
ÔB and the user 166 using lB to support their feet during a bodily exercise, for example a press up'. If multiple extension frames 1C, 21 and 22 are attached throughout the vertical length of the post 5C at desired points using the fixture holes 6C, multiple applications can be maintained at any one period and remain thus. These extensions may protrude from the post 5B from an angle or degree and remain permanent once in place or removed, relocated or stored.
These may include attachments of use to the user 16 such as a sports bag 21 or a speed ball 22. These are attached and may be unattached and relocated to the other extending arms, For example the speed ball 22 may be detached and attached to the extension arm of the sports bag 21 and vice versa. Any combination of these extensions with unlimited applications and forms may be applied in all circumstances and may be chosen and included with other attachments including using the extension arms 1C, 21 and 22 themselves as anchor points or supporting areas for other articles.
For example, the user 16 may wrap a rope around an extension arm for storage of the rope. The rope may also be attached to an opening or hoop provided on the extension arms for exercise purposes.
