Abstract

A wall bracket for a satellite dish comprises a base plate 2 for connection to a wall structure 10, an arm 3 extending from the base plate to support a satellite dish, a frame or sleeve 6 around at least part of the arm, and resilient means 9A connecting the frame 6 to the arm 3 such that the arm 3 can move relative to the frame 6. The wall bracket may be mounted on a wall 10 comprising a coating (render 12, insulation 11 or cladding) such that the coating abuts the frame 6 and the resilient means 9A allows movement of the arm 3 relative to the frame 6 to prevent the frame 6 from damaging the coating. The bracket may be used for satellite dish antennas, TV aerials, CCTV fixing points, ladder tie off points or fall arrest points.

Description

I
Title: Wall Bracket for Satellite Dish The present invention relates to a wall bracket for a satellite dish.
his known to connect a bracket to a wall of a building, with the bracket having an arm to support a satellite dish. Often such a bracket is secured to a wall structure such as bricks or blocks, and then a wall coating of insulation and render is applied to the wall structure with the wall coating render abutting the bracket arm. If the arm should flex, e.g. when high winds move the satellite dish, the bracket arm flexes and can crack the render.
The invention seeks to provide a bracket which avoids this difficulty.
According to the present invention there is provided a wall bracket for a satellite dish comprising: a) a base plate for connection to a wall structure, b)an atm extonding fromthe base plate to support a satellitó dith, and e) a frame around at least part of the arm and resilient means connecting the frame to.the arm whereby the atm can move relative to the frame, -- * in use a coatingcan be applied to the surface wall strueture to cover the wall structure and abut the frame, and said resilient means allowing movement of the arm relative to the frame to prevent the franie from damaging the coating.
Prefcrably frame is sleeve around the arm. The sleeve may be square in cross section. The frame may have an open rear face and a closed opposing face with a cut-out to allow the arm to extend through the closed face.
Preferably the frame is bolted to the arm, and at least one bolt has a spring to bias the frame towards a bolt head, the or each bolt spring providing said resilient means.
Preferably the resilient means allows the frame to move relative to the arm in a vertical plane.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the wall bracket, and Figure 2 shows a cross-sectiOn view of the wall bracket in use on a wall structure with a coating.
Referring to Figure 1 there is shown a wall bracket I for a satellite dish (not shown). Bracket 1 could also be used for other pole mountable items such as TV aerials.
Bracket 1 has a base plate 2 for connection to a wall structure such as a brick of block wall, e.g. forming the exterior of a building. An arm 3 extends from the base plate 2 to support a satellite dish on a U-bolt 4. Arm 3 may bebraced by a support barS. Base plate 2, arm 3, and support bar S may be formed of angle iron sections welded together.
A frame in the form of a square sleeve 6 is provided around part of the arm 3. The sleeve 6 may have an open rear face 6A and a closed opposing face 69 with a cut-Out 7A to allow the arm 3 to extend through the closed face 6B. Sleeve 6 side wall 6C has a cut-out 7B to accommodate support bar 5. -Sleeve 6 is bolted to arm 3 by a pair of bolts 8,9. A spring 9A biases the sleeve 6 towards the top of the bolt 9. The spring 9A provides a resilient means to allow the sleeve 6 to move relative to the arm 3 in a vertical plane as shown by the arrows in Figure 1 or the arms 3 to move relative to the sleeve 6.
As shown in Figure 2, base 2 can be bolted or otherwise secured to a wall structure such as bricks 10. A coating such as an insulation layer 11 and a render 12 can be applied to the surface Wall stñictum to cover the wall structure and abut the frame. The resilient means provided by the spring 9A on bolt 9 allows movement of the arm 3 relative to the sleeve 6, e.g. in high winds which catch a satellite dish and flex arm 3. This prevents the sleeve from damaging the coating such as the render 12.
The invention may take a fonn different to that specifically described above.
Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
