Abstract
The capsule is a freestanding erect structure and may be inflatable or made with rigid poles like a tent; it has a fabric covering that creates a darkened environment beneath in which to sleep. The base of the structure creates a perimeter 2 within which an inflatable mattress 1 is encompassed. The structure is collapsible. The capsule is designed to go inside, or as an alternative to the bedroom pod within a conventional family tent and can also be used in other non camping situations. The mattress can be separated from the structure. It is suitable for children to use. The covering may be made from breathable material.
Description
Description
Blackout sleeping capsule While camping both adults and particularly children are not able to sleep while it is daylight as traditional tents allow light through. There are blackout tents on the market but family tents and the bedroom pods within them do allow light through.
There is nothing currently available on the market that will create a darkened environment within a conventional tent structure to sleep under. The capsule is a freestanding erect structure, it has a fabric covering that creates a darkened environment beneath in which to sleep and an inflatable mattress. It is designed to go inside, or as an alternative to the bedroom pod within a conventional family tent and can also be used in other non camping situations. It is suitable for children to use.
The structure consists of supporting members and a perimeter at the base. The product is designed so the ceiling of the structure will allow, in most cases, a sifting up position. The structure will be sufficiently long to allow, in most cases, the person beneath to sleep fully extended. The base of the structure has a perimeter which encompasses an air mattress. The structure is collapsible. At each corner of the perimeter there is a securing device for the fabric cover to be attached. The structure is either inflated through a valve or self inflating mechanism and made of PVC or similar, or the supporting limbs of the structure can be made of rigid poles as in the tent industry.
The air mattress is encompassed by and placed inside the perimeter but can be separated so that a bed sheet can be placed over the mattress. The mattress and the perimeter creates a complete firm base to the structure. The mattress is inflated through a valve or self inflating mechanism. The mattress is made of PVC or similar.
The thbric cover greatly reduces light getting into the structure and may be made from nylon, polyester, cotton, silk, hemp, wool or similar and may include an additional coating product. Internally and externally it will either be plain or patterned. The fabric maybe made of breathable material. At the four corners it will have a securing device to attach it to the structure. The cover will have an entrance in the form of an opening with either a fabric overlap or a securing device to enable the fabric to be held together. The entrance to the fabric cover may be held open on each side with a securing device.
The capsule is designed with the aim to be quick to assemble and also pack away, for the assembly not to require any technical expertise and for the capsule to be light weight, small and easy to transport when packed away. The capsule could be made in different sizes for adults, children or couples.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with relerenceto the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a 3D drawing of the structure and mattress.
Figure 1 shows a rectangular configuration but the capsule could take any shape.
Figure us one example of the structure but it can be made in other arrangements with less or more supporting members.
In Figure 1, the air mattress 1 is encompassed by and placed inside the perimeter 2, creating a complete firm base. There will be a least four supporting members, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 to form an erect structure to hold the fabric covering. There will be at lease four securing devices 10, 11, 12, 13 for the cover to be attached to the structure but they can be put in other positions. 14 shows the entrance in the form of a fabric opening however the entrance can be between any supporting members.
