Abstract

An apparatus for crushing or compacting waste comprises a decagon shaped steel drum comprising internal decagons (figure 2) for support and added weight connected to a steel bar attached to a steel frame and a bearing system allowing the drum to rotate freely. An attachment system provided on the frame allows the apparatus to be attached to machinery. The apparatus does not require a motor for operation and may be used to crush recycled waste, general waste, garden waste, cardboard, glass and building materials.

Background
The invention relates to crushing recycling waste When recycled waste is put into skips there is currently no contraption that compresses the waste, meaning that the skips are not being used to their full potential as they are filling the skips quickly without optimising the space. This leads to skips being under used and emptied unnecessarily causing greater work, less productivity and more emissions to the environment.
Statement of invention
To overcome this, the invention proposes to crush and compact the waste material using a steel decagram connected to a frame which has the ability to be attached to current machinery. The DecaCrush will be pushed backward and forward whilst rotating freely to condense recycled waste in a skip. The DecaCrush is environmentally friendly as it moves freely and releases no emissions.
Advantages The DecaCrush is a has a decagon drum see figure 1, on a solid steel bar which ensures it can move freely backwards and forwards whilst compacting the waste, the inside of the drum has two 2.5cm thick steel decagons giving the drum additional stability and added weight see figure 2. The weight to drum and decagon shape ensures the waste is compressed in an even way and the waste is not simply pushed along. The weight of the drum means that the DecaCrush can be used on all recycled waste successfully, such as general waste, garden waste, cardboard, glass, building materials etc. The DecaCrush requires no motor as moves freely so is environmentally friendly, as are the impacts it has, as it enables waste management and recycling to be carried out more efficiently with less need for emptying the skip so less emissions.
The DecaCrush has an attachment block at the top for a quick hitch system which can be adjusted to attach to assorted machinery see figure 1. The DecaCrush can also be manufactured at a variety of sizes to suit different requirements, such as various sizes of machinery or skips.
