PRODUCT DISPLAY AND STORAGE ASSEMBLY
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a product display and storage assembly.
Background of the Invention
Product display panels which display information, for example, marketing or pricing information, about a product are well known. Such display panels are likely to be used at a point-of-sale unit, or on a shelf supporting the product concerned. They may be wall or window-mounted, such as a poster, or free-standing.
Such display panels take up space and may become disassociated from the product to which they relate. Additionally, in many point-of-sale situations, it will be necessary to store products in a location inaccessible to consumers, for example, behind a counter. In this case, the product display panel may be located some distance from the actual product, and the consumer must request the product from a sales assistant.
It is hence an object of the present invention to provide an alternative to existing product display panels which obviates the above problems.

There will now be described by way of example a specific mode contemplated by the inventor(s). In the following description numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding. It will be apparent however, to one skilled in the art, that the present invention may be practiced without limitation to these specific details. In other instances well known methods and structures are not described in detail, so as not to
unnecessarily obscure the description.
Figure 1 Figure 1 is a perspective view of a first product display and storage assembly (101), comprising a display panel (102) with a number of ". : apertures, each aperture being associated with a first product support (103) * and a second product support (104). Each first product support (103) is ***** * detachably mounted to a corresponding second product support (104) through a respective aperture of the display panel (102), such that each * second product support (104) extends substantially from a rear lace of the display panel (102) while each first product support (103) extends substantially from a front face of the display panel (102), and products (106) may pass through the aperture between the respective product supports (103, 104).
Each first product support (103) comprises frontal flanges (105) which abut the front face of the display panel (102). Each first product support (103) also comprises rear flanges (112) (not shown) which abut the rear face of the display panel (102). These flanges (105, 112) retain the first and second product support (103, 104) in a desired position.
The display panel (102) comprises fixing holes (111) through which the assembly (101) may be attached to shelf rails or other mounting means, for direct or indirect mounting to a wall, a ceiling or a support box.
The front face of the display panel (102) is adapted to receive information for display, such as marketing, product information or pricing information.
This information may be in the form of words, or pictures, or both.
The display panel (102) in this example comprises a plurality of apertures having different orientations. Each aperture is provided with a first product support (103) and a second product support (104). Different products (106) may thus be displayed within the same assembly (101).
Figure 2 Figure 2 is an exploded view of a second product display and storage assembly (201), in which the first product support (103) comprises an :. 25 extension (205) of the second product support (204), extending forwardly through the aperture (108), and a pair of side pieces (203) being detachably mounted adjacent the extension (205) of the second product support (204).
These side pieces (203) are each detachably mounted to the extension * S (205) of the second product support (204) and to the display panel (102).
Various widths and lengths of second product support (204) may be * ****** * S mounted to side pieces (203) of a standard size. The second product support (204) in this example comprises an elongate trough. The second product support (204) is provided with a spring-loaded, longitudinally acting pusher (107) which urges products held within the second product support (204) towards the first product support (103).
The display panel (102) in this example is laminar and comprises aluminium, but other materials such as plastics, other metal or cardboard or other fibrous, ligneous composite material may be used. In another example (not shown), the display panel (102) may be curved. The display panel (102) comprises notches (109) in a periphery of the aperture (108), which co-operate with protrusions (110) on the side pieces (203) to prevent vertical displacement of the first product support (103). These notches (109) are located along an edge of the display panel aperture (108).
Figure 3 Figure 3 is a perspective view of a third product display and storage assembly (301). In this example, the assembly (301) is free-standing. The first product support (203) and the second product support (204) each comprise a clear plastics material, such as an acrylic polymer.
