Dials and scales; indicating particular readings. - An indicator for an electrical tuning instrument comprises a dial part adjustable for enabling a record card to be readily inserted in a fixed position in which record marks can be made thereon in indicative relation with the hand or pointer of the instrument. Applied to a condenser of the type disclosed in Specification 246,043, [Class 38 (ii), Electric currents, Converting &c.], wherein a knob effects rotation of a segment c and spindle d carrying a pointer, the dial comprises a segment g hinged at l to a plate h on the panel b and carrying a catch adapted to engage a hole in the panel. In operation, the segment is turned about its hinges and a semicircular card m is inserted beneath the pointer, the card being notched to engage the spindle d and hinges at o for accurate positioning. The segment is then returned and secured by the catch j while a flange g<2> thereon forms an enclosure for the card and prevents it from shifting. When a selected station is tuned in, a record is made on the card at the graduation of the scale where the pointer came to rest. Both sides of a card or any number of cards may be used, the cards in the latter case being kept in a suitable accessible holder.
