Abstract

A doll comprising an embedded GPS, so as to be aware of its geographic location; wherein the doll may include spoken messages specifically linked with a geographic location. The doll may include an integrated suite of electronics that may be updated and programmed. The toy may include an accompanying suite of software resident on a computer or handheld device. The doll may further include aerials within the legs, to optimise wireless reception; and may further comprise an evolving library of messages and locations that are location and/or time aware.

Description
A children's doll with embedded electronics most notably a micro GPS sensor in order to localize content for children's entertainment and education.
The child pushes a button on the dolls stomach to hear a message or series of messages which rather than being random are localized to the the geographical location of the doll and can be easily modified by the user.
The Doll connects to a computer via USB or WiFi and an accompanying software program allows the user or parent to modify the data stored within the Doll on an embedded solid state device.
For example if the GPS co-ordinates are for the child's grandparents, the message may be how are grandma and grandpa today. The messages can be selected from a library and locked to co-ordinates.
In addition there would be a series of pre-programmed messages pertaining to various locations for the country or countries of sale. If the child enters a natural history museum, then the messages would be localised and more educational: have you visited the dinosaurs yet The electronics are all embedded within the plastic moulding including aerials throughout the length of the legs for improved reception and accessed through wired or wireless connections.
Recharging of the battery is via a fixed USB to the computer or via the mains adaptor at the computer end of the USB connection cable.
As the Doll is increasingly utilized the library of locations and messages will expand to provide entertainment, comfort and education.
Updates to this library may be provided through updates to the resident software program on the computer or direct firmware / data updates to the Doll via WiFi or cellular connections.
Furthermore, localized content can be added on demand for various locations.
This device is not age or gender specific and can be modified accordingly.

  1. Claims 1) A Doll with embedded GPS so it is specifically aware of its geographic location.
  2. 2) A Doll with spoken messages that are specifically linked to geographic location.
  3. 3) An integrated suite of electronics that is updateable and programmable.
  4. 4) An accompanying suite of software that is resident on a computer or handheld.
  5. 5) Doll architecture that integrates aerials within legs to optimize wireless reception.
  6. 6) Evolving library of messages and locations that are location and or time aware.
