Abstract

An apparatus for improving racket ball skills comprises an elongate elastic member 2 with a ball 6 connected to the first end and a fastener 8 for releasably attaching the second end to an object, wherein the fastener 8 is adapted to surround the object and is coupled to the second end of the elastic member 2 by a D-ring 10 and swivel 12. The fastener 8 may comprise a strap, belt or hook and loop. The D-ring 10 may be closed using a small plastic tube which guarantees the position of the swivel 12. The ball 6 may be connected to the first end of the elastic member 2 by a resilient member 4 which is adapted to absorb force when the ball 6 is hit, i.e. a knot and loop fixing. The ball 6 may be a conventional de-pressurised or unpressurised tennis ball.

Description

An Apparatus for Improving Racket Ball Skills The present invention relates to a uniqUe sports training aid and/or game for use on the beach, in the park, or at a sports club or at home. ,Easy to use and cheap to buy this is the perfect opportunity to improve on your racket ball skills, in particular tennis.
Known training aids Lomprise an elastic cord having a first end connected to a base and a ball connected to a second end. Our criticism is that other bases are either too flimsy, resulting in a good player having to find some other way of keeping it stable, or demand typically a sand or water filling. The virtue of our pràduct is that the player can use whatever size/weight of base is appropriate to them. Trials have shown that mail ordercatalogues are extremely steady. . -Our invention uniquely uses a specially designed Velcro (TM) strap which can be attached to a variety of unlimited bases, namely a shopping catalogue or book, block or other weighted object. The scope within the home or elsewhere is limitless.
An apparatus for improving racket ball skills is provided comprising: -an elongate elastic member having first and second ends; -a ball connected to the first end attached with a knot fixing which takes the strain at the point Of fixing; -a fastener-for attaching the second end to an object; uniquely using the Velcro (TM) strap; which can be strapped/ unstrapped at the user's leisure.
wherein the fastener is adapted to surround said object and is coupled to the second end of the elastic menber by a D-ring and swivel The D-ring is "closed" using a small plastic tube which gurantees the swivel's position.
Preferably the fastener comprises a Velcro (TM) strap for a block, such as a phone directory, book or other solid object to be secured. /
Preferably the ball is connected to the first end of the elastic member by a resilient member; being a knot and loop fixing; which is adapted to absorb forces when the ball is hit.
I -
HT
Suitably the ball may be a conventjon un-pressurized tennis ball.
An embodiment of the present invention is shown in the attached figure comprising an elastic member 2 having a first end 4 connected to a ball 6 and second end coupled to the Velcro (TM) strapS by a D-ringio and a swivel 12. TheVelcro (TM) strap allows the apparatus to be quickly and simply attached to any object at ground level having sufficient weight not to move when the ball is being hit, in use. When not fri use, the Velcro (TM) strap can be easily detached from the object and the apparatus packed awa'. /
