Abstract
A pair of swimming shorts comprises added adjustable buoyancy support from the lower waist to the knee area to provide a wearer with improved floatation in the water. Several small foam floats (figures 4, 5, 6) may be attached to the material of the shorts. The floats may be inserted into pockets sewn onto the front of the thigh area of each leg 1, the front of the lower waist area 2, the back of the thigh area of each leg 5 and the back of the left and right buttock areas 4. The floats preferably have a concave profile. Improved floatation provided by the shorts may help a wearer to attain a more natural horizontal body position in water.
Description
Swimming Shorts with Added Adjustable Buoyancy Support This invention relates to helping novice swimmers of all ages, and also those people with physical injury using swimming for rehabilitation purposes. Novice swimmers may struggle in the water to keep their body in a honzontal position for an optimal swimming technique. The novice swimmer may find that their lower body sinks into the water and they find themselves swimming in a diagonal position, dragging their lower body through the water.
To overcome this problem of swimming in a diagonal body position, this invention proposes Swimming Shorts with added adjustable Buoyancy Support from the lower waist to the knee area.
The wearer of the swimming shorts is provided with the following benefits: Additional adjustable buoyancy support to the body from the lower waist to the knee area.
Improved floatation in the water, which may hdp the novice swimmer attain a more natural horizontal body position in the water, this therefore helps the novice swimmer to stop swimming in the diagonal body position and to achieve a more natural movement through the water, which in turn is less strenuous and also leads to a better swimming technique.
The Swimming Shorts have adjustable buoyancy support. Therefore the wearer can easily adjust the level of buoyancy support required to suit his/her own needs as he/she becomes more proficient at swimming.
The Swimming Shorts are made from an elasticised cloth which ensures that the adjustable buoyancy support' elements of the shorts are held tight and close to the skin so they do not move about in an uncomfortable manner whilst the wearer is swimming.
The swinmilng Shorts are figure hugging to the body and can be easily worn under more conventional loose Beach style' type shorts for discreetness if the wearer so chooses.
The Swimming Shorts with Added Adjustable Buoyancy Support will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a front profile view of the Swimming Shorts Figure 2 shows a back profile view of the Swimming Shorts Figure 3 shows a side profile view of the Swimming Shorts Figure 4 shows the Foam Hoats which are used to provide adjustable buoyancy support to the front and back of the leg thigh area.
FigureS shows the Foam Hoat which is used to provide adjustable buoyancy support to the front lower waist area.
Figure 6 shows the Foam floats which are used to provide adjustable buoyancy support to the back buttocks area.
In Figure 1, there are three areas where adjustable buoyancy support can be obtained by the wearer.
The first and second area is labelled as (11), these are pockets sewn onto the front of each leg thigh area.
The third area is labelled as (2), this is a pocket sewn onto the front of the lower waist area.
The wearer can insert Foam Floats (see Figures 4 and 5) into these pockets (I) and (2) to obtain adjustable buoyancy support.
In Figure 2, there are four areas where adjustable buoyancy support can be obtained by the wearer.
The first and second area is labelled as (4), these are pockets sewn onto the back of the left and right buttock area.
The third and forth area is labelled as (5), these are pockets sewn onto the back of each leg thigh area.
The wearer cart insert Foam Floats (see Figures 4 and 6) into these pockets (4) and (5) to obtain adjustable buoyancy support.
In Figure 3, each pocket as labelled (1), (2), (4) and (5) has a cloth lip, abehed as (3).
This cloth lip (3) ensures the Foam Floats are held secure in the pocked whilst the wearer is swimming.
Figure 4, shows the Foam Floats which are inserted in to the leg thigh front and back pockets (see Figure 3. labels (1) and (5)), to obtain added buoyancy support.
The Foam Floats are made from EVA Foam and have a curved profile which fits the contour of the leg thigh area making it more comfortable to wear.
FigureS, shows the Foam Float which are inserted in to the front lower waist area pocket (see Figure 3, bbel (2)), to obtain added buoyancy support.
The Foam Float is made from EVA Foam and has a curved profile which fits the contour of the front tower waist area making it more comfortable to wear.
Figure 6, shows the Foam Floats which are inserted in to the back buttocks area pockets (see Figure 3, label 4)). to obtain added buoyancy support.
The Foam Floats are made from EVA Foam and have a curved profile which fits the contour of the back buttocks area making it more comfortable to wear.
With Reference to Figures 4, 5, and 6: The Swimming Shorts will come with Foam Floats in various sizes (extra small, small, medium, large. and extra large) so each wearer can attain his/her ideal fit.
The thickness of the Foam Floats as shown in Figures 4.5, and 6 varies from 0.5m to 2.0cm in thickness. There will be three Foam Floats for each pocket (see Figure 3, labels (1). (2), (4) and (5)), each of these three Foam Floats will be of a different thickness 0.5mm, 1mm and 2mm.
The wearer has the option to insert all three Foam Floats into each pocket, or to insert Foam Floats of different thicknesses into each pocket. As the swimmer becomes more confident and proficient at swimming he/she may wish to adjust the amount of added buoyancy support required and insert a thinner Foam Float into these pockets.
Claims (5)
- Claims 1. A pair of Swimming Shorts with added adjustable Buoyancy Support from the lower waist to the knee area which will provide the wearer with improved floatation in the water.
- 2. A pair of Swimming Shorts according to claim I, which act as a Swimming Float (which provides buoyancy support) in the waler due to the Swimming shorts having several small Foam Floats physically attached to the cloth/material of the shorts.
- 3, A pair of Swimming Shorts according to claim 2, in which the level of buoyancy support required in the water can be increased by physically attaching various Foam Floats (which provide the buoyancy support) to the cloth/material of the shorts.
- 4. A pair of Swimming Shorts according to claim 2, in which the level of buoyancy support required in the water can be reduced by physically removing various Foam Floats (which provide the buoyancy support) from the cloth/material of the shorts.
- 5. A pair of Swimming Shorts according to claim 2, in which the Foam floats which are physically attached to the cloth/material of the shorts have a concave profile,
