Abstract

A capo unit includes: attachment means 3 for attaching the unit to a guitar and individual rubber 4 machine heads 1 corresponding to each string of the guitar, which can freely rotate. The machine heads 1 are extendable across a span of three frets 5 to enable strings to be damped at different pitches. Each machine head 1 is able to be rotated into an off position, where the machine head is not in contact with the string. The machine heads 1 are also able to be aligned with one another in a central position, or extended to an adjacent fret in either direction. The machine heads 1 preferably rotate around a rod and use a ball and socket 2 or a screw and thread system, allowing them to operate as a chord selector and to be positioned according to harmonic needs. The unit may clamp around the neck of the guitar using a spring loaded clamp 3.

Description

Description
New Capo This invention relates to a device for enhancing a guitars capabilities for harmony and chords.
When playing a guitar the ability to create harmony within chords is limited to the span of your hand some capos allow you to play at different octaves while letting strings in lower octaves ring freely.
However the use of even these capos limits the guitars capability for harmony within chords. Some chords are out of range of the guitar even with these octave chords ehancing capos. The present invention proposes a selective string holding capo that can spread out across three frets.
The spreading out of the individual string holding (3) fret spaning means is by rotating rubber machine heads in fixed 4 point positioning.
The string holding unit may be switched to the inline one fret capacity covering normal capos' capabilities.
The invention will now be describe solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig 1 Shows a (3) fret spanning telescopic machine heads capo fitted on to the fretboard of the guitar.
Fig 2 A telescopic (3) fret spanning spring loaded capo in the on/off position with left or back one fret, right or forward one fret capability.
In Fig 1 a spring loaded capo 3 includes a telescopic machine head 1 which has a rotating (4) fixed position rubber pad. Which has a string holding 3 fixed position holding rubber pad. The rubber pad may be held in the on or central position left back one position or right forward one position.
If spring loaded unit is employed played may be able to develop new chords which may be beneficial when introducing harmony. The degree of the positioning can be varied by thread and screw unit.
The spring loaded capo 3 may be held in the central or on position by rotating machine heads and fixing screw into thread at central position or left and right by a quick screw and thread positioning system.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims A capo unit comprising a rotating machine head system. A rubber pad which can be held in the left central right or off position, and harmony enhancing and rotating head system which can be rotated relative to the head positioning means.
  2. 2. A capo unit according to Claim 1 in which the harmonic chordal means is provided by a rotating head positioning rubber pad (harmonic chordal relates to the chord position of the capo and the chord position of the hand).
  3. 3. A capo unit in which according to Claim 1 in which the harmony enhancing means is provided by a rotating machine head which supports the fret holding rubber pad. The machine head including at least 3 thread and screw positioning system which allows a rubber pad to move into 4 positions the thread and screw system controling the position of the pad.
  4. 4. A capo unit according to Claim 1 in which the rotating machine head can be engaged in the on position allowing normal capo capabilities.
