Abstract

A grip for attachment to a bar, wherein the grip comprises a visco-elastic foam layer (1). The foam layer may surround a harder density inner foam layer (3). There may be magnets (2) embedded in the sleeve to provide means of securing the grip around a bar. The grip may be constructed in a split-line or C-Shaped configuration (4). The foam may be memory foam.

Description

Lift aid This invention relates to a product for helping users comfortably lift weights and do exercises which involve gripping onto a bar or barbell of some sort.
People can often encounter problems when lifting weights at the gym due to problems with grip and comfort. When lifting heavy weights this can sometimes result in the user receiving blisters or calluses on their palms.
Although, there are other products on the market that try to prevent these issues problems still occur. For example gym gloves help users to grip onto the weight, but struggle to do so when the weight is heavy, they can also slip off Also over time wear & tear damages the gloves. Chalk is also another alternative that helps provide grip but does not prevent calluses or blisters. However to overcome these issues the lift aid invention proposes a Visco-elastic tube design that can be attached to weights or any bar in general to create a comfortable platform for the user to grip the bar or weight. This works by the Visco-elastic foam being moulded by the users palm & fingers for a secure and comfortable grip.
I will explain in detail how the product functions with reference to the accompanying drawings of the lift aid.
Figure 1: Shows the lift aid open, with a set of magnets embedded into the top and bottom split lines.
1: Is the Visco elastic foam [memory foam] which moulds around the palm and fingers of the user for a more comfortable grip.
2: Shows 2 sets of magnets that are embedded within the split line of the Lift Aid, 3: Shows the harder density foam inside the lift aid, which allows for a stronger grip around the bar.
Figure 2: Shows the exterior (birds eye view) of the lift aid. This is where the user would place their hand and grip.
Figure 3: Shows a side view of the lift aid open. It also shows the inner harder density foam that allows for a strong grip around the bar.
1: Is the Visco elastic foam (memory foam] which moulds around the palm and fingers of the user for a more comfortable grip.
2: Shows 2 sets of magnets that are embedded within the split line of the Lift Aid, 3: Shows the harder density foam inside the lift aid, which allows for a stronger grip around the bar.
Figure 4: Exactly the same as figure 3. Other side.
Figure S: Another drawing of the Exterior of the lift aid.
Figure 6: This shows a close up of the lift aid open from a front-end side view.
4: Shows the split line design to provide natural resistance, stopping Lift Aid from springing apart whilst in use.

Claims (5)

  1. Claims 1. The lift aid is a comfortable grip aid for lifting weights. The lift aid invention proposes a Visco-elastic tube design that can be attached to weights or any bar in general to create a comfortable platform for the user to grip the bar or weight.
  2. 2. The lift aid product according to claim 1 provides a comfortable grip through the use of visco-elastic foam.
  3. 3. The split line going through the product is designed to provide natural resistance, stopping lift aid from springing apart whilst in use.
  4. 4. The gap between the harder density foam sections allows lift aid to stretch over bigger diameter bars. This works by the Visco-elastic foam being moulded by the users palm & fingers for a secure and comfortable grip.
  5. 5. The lift aid has been designed to specifically tackle the build up of calluses/blisters on the palms of hands.
