Abstract

A cricket training device comprising a support frame 2, a rope with a first end attached to the support and a cricket ball 7 attached to a second end of the rope. The frame 2 may have a pair of supports joined to form an A shape, be designed to be free standing and be adjustable in length. The rope may be attached to the support frame by a ring which is free to swivel around the frame. In use a user can repeatedly practice cricket shots on the ball 7 which will move back and forth in a pendulum type motion.

Description

Description
BatPro TITLE: BatPro is a cricket batting practice tool that allows the player to independenUy practice a wide range of cricket shots arid improve handeye coardination* for cricket batting sMis.
DESCRIPTION: (Noting measurements described are approximates) BatPro enables one person to practice bathng without the need for another person Dowling to them] his solves the problem of a person needing a large outdoor space to hit a cncket ball and requiring an extra person to bowl to them I his (pendulum) device improves a cricketer's (batsman) handee co-ordination and timing of hitting a cricket baD, thro1gh a continuous swinging rnoticn of the cricket ball on the end of a piece of rope The BatPro ts easfly stored and transportable in a standard size cricket hag It is very easy assembled, and disassembled by 1 nerson (approximatey rn ins).
BatPro is an "A4rame" like structure with a durable string ar;d cricket ball suspended from t the design allows The ball to swing freely in several directions allowing a person to practice many batting strokes.
The cricket ball is suspended by a ropethat is attached at the other end to a ring4ike attachment This enables the ball and rope to swing 360 degrees around a small vertical pipe on the top of the BatPro base unit, and back and forth between the two vertical poles.
The base unit is easy to buUd / put together (in a mafler of minutes). It is made up of a number of hollow plastic pipes out together by pipe connector joins The base is made up of 2 hollow pipes connected to 2 separate pipe connector joins1 with an 87 degree bend back up to support the 2 separate vertical pipes, and a straight connector connecting the front support feet (35cm in length) to the structure.
At the base of the device. between the 2 seai*ate pipe connector joins, there is distance of 115cm. The 2 base pipes are connected to each other by a detachable thinner pipe (105cm in length) at 16cm back from the pipe connector joins, and another detachable thinner pipe (80cm in length) at 83cm back from the pipe connector joins.
There are 2 separate vertical, clipon support rods attached On one end to the base pipes, and the other end to the Vertical pipos, for tahHitst The 2 separate vertical pipes (102cm in length each), connected to the 87 cegree pipe connector joins, extend approx. 170cm into the air at its highest point.
The ends of the extendable pipes are angled towards eachother to make an upside down "V' shape On each end an upside down "Y" shaped attachment is fitted This fits perfectly into the hollow of the extendabie pipes, with tie ierbca section of the "V shaped attachment extending into the air (184cm from the ground at is highest extension) This vertical section extending into the air supports the ring attached to the rope from which the cricket ball is suspended.
There is astopperat. the vertical end of the Y" shaped device, ensuring that the ring attachment does not detach itself from the device This means the ball and rope can swinq 360 degrees arm oackwards and forwards in a pendulum-like motion, without becoming detached.
The batsman is able to use BatPro alone if desired. The individuaFstands between 30cm I m (ideal range) from the base of the structure.
[he ball on the end o the rope is struck by the cricket bat used by the batsmen causing the baH to swing in a back and forth mohon whdst the batsman continuously simulates the following cricket shots (not imiea to) forward/backward defensive, on/off-a nyc, cover drive and back-foot drive, If thG batsrnan would Nke to alter the shot seiebtidn, without altering BatPro at aH, he/she may pay the fo lowing cricket shots (not limited to) square cut, hook, pufi ate cut, square drive the baU on the rope will simp'y cease the back and forth pendulum rnotronh and rotate 180/360 degrees around the ertica pipe before resuming the back and forth pendulum" moflon, ensuring a continuous uninterrupted flow of batting practice.
Please refer tp attached drawings (figw 1; fIgure 2 & figure 3): KEY STRUCTURAL FEATURES: * An A-frame' like structure that is made up of several sections of ninstic pipirg The structure is asserrblea aria stanas at such an angle for free movement of the cricket ball.
