Abstract

A sewing machine accessory comprising at least one round plate accessory 8, comprising 2 round plates 81, between which the fabric 6 to be stitched may sit. The accessory further comprises a strong and flexible rectangular accessory plate 3 with an opening 31, which may be round or rectangular, through which the needle 72 lays stitches. The plate 3 has a mirror-like planar surface, within which is a guiding track 32 with a positioning device (which moves a positioning pin 413) adjacent to a ruler 33 section. The guiding track 32 extends towards the opening 31. The positioning device includes a sliding member slidably located on the guiding track, the base of which connects with a restrictor, which holds the positioning pin 413 at a distance H1 from the restrictor. One or more attaching devices 5, which may be magnetic attractive members or magnets, are attached to the bottom surface of the accessory plate 3. The attaching devices 5 may be layered, in which the first layer is an acrylic adhesive layer, the second a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) layer and the third layer is polyurethane (PU) or adhesive PU soft rubber. In this case the first layer of the attachment devices is situated between the second layer and the base of the accessory plate 3, with the third layer beneath the second layer.

Description

SEWING MACIIINE ACCESSORY FOR CIRCULAR SEWING
FIELD OF TIlE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a sewing machine accessory, and more particularly to a sewing machine accessory for facilitating or assisting the processes of arc and circular sewing embroidery.
DESCRIPTION OF PRIOR ART
Typical sewing machine accessory devices for circular sewing have been developed and provided for attaching or mounting onto a sewing machine for facilitating or assisting the processes of circular sewing embroidery and the like or the stitching of a circular or arced stitch, and comprise an elongated planar work table defining a planar work surface and a plurality of support legs for supporting the work table in general aligmnent with the end portion of a conventional sewing machine needle board of sewing machine, and a pair of material tacks each having a downwardly extending pointed member for engaging with the material to be stitched.
For example, U.S. Patent No. 5,4119,745 to Terry discloses one of the typical sewing machine accessory devices for circular sewing and comprising an elongated slot running the length of the work surface for engaging with the pointed members of the tacks which pierce and retain the material or fabric to be stitched on the planar However, the tacks may not be adjusted or moved close to the stitching needle of the typical sewing machine for stitching of a circular or arced stitch that includes a relatively decreased or smaller outer diameter.
U.S. Patent No. 7,255,05 I to Graham et al., and U.S. Patent No. 7,958,834 to Matsurnoto et al. disclose two other typical templates for use in circular sewing and to assist the process of circular sewing embroidery and the like.
However, the typical templates may not be used for stitching of a circular or arced stitch that includes a relatively decreased or smaller outer diameter.
The present invention has arisen to mitigate and obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional sewing machine accessory devices for circular sewing.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a sewing machine accessory which is easily actuated, operated and adjusted by the user for facilitating or assisting the processes of circular sewing embroidery, or the stitching of a circular or arc.
To achieve afore-mentioned object, present invention provides a sewing maclime accessory which comprise a plate for mounting onto a needle board of sewing machine and to be located below a stitching needle, the plate including an opening formed therein, a guiding track formed therein, and a positioning device including a sliding member slidably engaged with the guiding track of the accessory plate.
The sliding member includes a guide which is formed by a restricter which is connected to the bottom of said sliding member for slidably engaging with the guiding track of the plate and makes the sliding member to slide along the guiding track of the plate to slide toward or away from the opening of the plate.
The guiding track is an elongated slot formed in the plate, and the guide includes a pair of grooves which are oppositely formed in the guide for slidably engaging with the flanges of the guiding track, and for guiding the sliding member to slide along the guiding track of the plate.
The positioning device includes a positioning pin which is on the top of the sliding member and retaining the sliding member to the plate at predetermined locations.
The plate includes at least one attaching device attached to the bottom surface of said plate which is detachable. Said attaching device is for mounting the accessory plate to the needle board of sewing machine. The attaching device includes a first layer attached to bottom surface of the plate, a second layer attached to the first layer, and a third layer attached to the second layer.
The first layer of the attaching device may be selected from an acrylic adhesive layer. The second layer of the attaching device may be selected from a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) layer. The third layer of the attaching device may be selected from a polyurethane (PU) layer.
Because the plate of the present invention is fixed to the needle board of sewing machine of sewing machine by attaching device, Present invention can be moved easily to meet the need of user and suitable for sewing machine of varies of brands or types without specific design or parts, thus, the cost of production is reduced which is more convenient to use than prior art.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring to the drawings, and initially to FIGS. 2 and 3, a sewing niachine accessory for circular sewing in accordance with the present invention comprises an accessory plate 3 which is a strong and flexible rectangular plate and made of polyethylene terephthalate(PET) for covering onto a needle board of sewing machine 71. Said accessory plate 3 is disposed below the stitching needle 72, the accessory plate 3 includes an opening 31 which can be round or rectangle formed therein and be located below the stitching needle 72, and includes one or more (such as three) attaching devices S which is attached to the bottom surface of the accessory plate 3 (FIG. 2) for mounting the accessory plate 3 onto the iieedle board of sewing machine 71.
For tile consideration of practicing and the cost of manufacturing, the attaching devices 5 may be selected from the magnetic attractive members or magnets(not revealed in drawings), or a tiered device (refer FIG. 4) which the first layer is acrylic adhesive layer 51 for mounting said attaching device onto the bottom surface of the accessory plate 3, the second layer is polyethylene terephthalate (PET) layer 52 which is mounted onto the bottom of the first layer 51, and the third layer is polyurethane (PU) or adhesive PU soft rubber layer 53 which is mounted onto the bottom of the second or polyethylene tereplithalate (PET) layer 52 and it is for temporarily attaching said accessory plate 3 to the needle board of sewing machine 71. Because the material of the third layer is sticky but detachable, and the stickiness of the material can be recovered by water flushing, thus, the tiered device can be repeatedly use.
The accessory plate 3 includes a mirror-like planar work surface formed thereon for smoothly supporting the material or fabric 6 which may be smoothly pivoted, rotated or moved between the needle board of sewing machine 71 and the accessory plate 3, furthermore, it includes a guiding track 32 formed therein which is directed toward the opening 31 of the accessory plate 3; a ruler 33 forms thereon and locates beside the guiding track 32 of the accessory plate 3 for indicating the spacing distance from the stitching needle 72.
A positioning device 4 is further provided and includes a sliding member 41 which is disposed on and capable of sliding along with the guiding track 32 on the accessory plate 3, the bottom of said sliding member 41 connects with a restricter 411 at the connection part 412, said connection part 412 contacts with said guiding track 32, and both sides of the bottom of said restricter 411 extend out, and form grooves on both side of said sliding member 41, to make said sliding member 41 be fixed in but can slide along said guiding track 32. There is a positioning pin 413 on said sliding member 41, and the positioning pin 413 is ahead of said restricter 411 with a solid distance Hi, thus, as Fig. 5 shown, said positioning pin 413 can be moved closer to said stitching needle 72 of sewing machine than the restricter 411 Referring Figs.3 and 5, user can adjust the position of the opening 31 on the accessory plate 3 to desirable position on the needle board of sewing machine 71 for stitching the fabric, and press said accessory plate 3 to make it be mounted onto the work stage of sewing machine by said attaching device 5, afterward, user can slide said sliding member 41 along with the guiding track 32, and choose desirable length by checking the value of said ruler 33, once said sliding member 41 is moved to desirable position on the fabric 6, user can make the positioning pin 413 penetrate tile fabric 6 for fixing, and rotate the fabric, than a round or arc is stitched on the fabric 6 by the stitching needle of sewing machine 72.
Refer Figs. 2 and 5, because said accessory plate 3 is fixed on the woric stage of sewing machine by the attaching member 5, therefore, the position of said accessory plate 3 is detachable and easy to be moved to suit the sewing machine of varies of types and brands, in prior art, such accessory plate needs to be undetachably fixed on the sewing machine, which can only be used for the sewing machine of specific type or brand, cause the inconvenience of applying and also increase the cost of manufacturing; referring Figs. 2 and 6, in present invention, when said sliding member 41 is moved to the end which is close to said opening 31, and the restricter 411 is jammed by the short flange of said guiding track 32, the positioning pin 413 can be closer to said opening because said positioning pin 413 is disposed ahead from the restricter 411 with a distance Hi, thus, present invention can be used for stitching smaller circle on the fabric 6, which makes the sewing machine can execute more accurate and precise circle or arc stitching.
Refer Fig. 7, the 2'' embodiment of present invention coniprises at least 1 round plate accessory 8, and the size of each round plate accessory 8 are applied on present invention can be different. The accessory comprises 2 round plates 81, when the round plate accessory 8 is applied, the fabric 6 is sandwiched by said round plates 81, than said round plates 8 and fabric 6 are penetrated by the positioning pin 413, thus, the penetrated part of fabric 6 is not easy to be ruffled which makes the circle stitched on the fabric becomes more complete.
In the other hand, the part of said accessory plate 3 which includes the opening 31 and guiding track 32 is convex, therefore, the strength of structure of said accessory is reinforced, which avoids said accessory plate 3 from up-warping or being bended due to the height difference of the work stage.

  1. I CLAIM: I. A sewing machine accessory comprises: At least 1 round plate accessory 8 which comprises 2 round plates 81; An accessory plate 3 which is a strong and flexible rectangular plate. includes: An opening 3 1 formed therein; A nurror-like plallar work surface formed thereon; a guiding track 32 formed therein which is directed toward the opening 31 of the accessory plate 3; A ruler 33 forms thereon and locates beside the guiding track 32 of the accessory plate 3.A positioning device 4 includes a sliding member 41 which is disposed on and capable of sliding along with the guiding track 32 on the accessory plate 3, the bottom of said sliding member 41 connects with a restricter 411 at the connection part 412, said connection part 412 contacts with said guiding track 32, and both sides of the bottom of said restricter 411 extend out, and form grooves on both side of said sliding member 41, to make said sliding member 41 be fixed in but can slide along said guiding track 32. There is a positioning pin 413 on said sliding member 41, and the positioning pin 413 is disposed ahead of said restricter 411 with a solid distance HI.One or more attaching devices 5 which are attached to the bottom surface of the accessory plate 3.
  2. 2. A sewing machine accessory according to claim 1, wherein said accessory plate 3 is made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
  3. 3. A sewing machine accessory according to claim I, wherein the top surface and bottom surface of said attaching device 5 are both with viscosity.
  4. 4. A sewing machine accessory according to claim 1, wherein said attaching device 5 is tiered device which the first layer is acrylic adhesive layer 5! for mounting said attaching device onto the bottom surface of the accessory plate 3, the second layer is polyethylene terephthalate (PET) layer 52 which is mounted onto the bottom of the first layer 51, and the third layer is polyurethane (PU) or adhesive PU soft rubber layer 53 which is mounted onto the bottom of the second layer 52
  5. 5. A sewing machine accessory according to claim 1, wherein said accessory plate 3 has at least one attaching device 5 which is magnetic attractive members or magnets.
  6. 6. A sewing machine accessory according to claim 1, wherein the opening 31 is round or rectangular.
  7. 7. A sewing machine accessory according to claim 1, wherein the part of said accessory plate 3 which includes the opening 31 and guiding track 32 is convex.
