Abstract

A cylindrical device for storing and retrieving receipts or credit card payment slips comprises an outer tube (A, fig. 1) provided with a lengthways slot (B, fig. 1), and an inner spindle D removably received within and rotatable with respect to the tube, such that receipts or credit card slips (not shown) can be retained inside the tube by inserting them through the slot and rotating the spindle so as to wind the receipts/slips thereon. The spindle D may be removably secured to the tube by threads F which engage with corresponding threads H provided in the tube. In a preferred embodiment the spindle is rotated by turning a ratcheted wheel (C, fig. 1) provided at one end of the spindle. The spindle may be provided with rubber washers E which assist in gripping the inserted receipt/slip. The tube may include a fixed end cap G. Receipts/slips can be retrieved from the tube by removing the inner spindle.

Description

This invention relates to a device for the safe storage and retrieval of paper shopping till receipts and/or credit card payment slips.

When a shopper is given a till receipt or credit card payment slip, it is often placed in a pocket, purse or inside the bag in which the item bought is presented. Often these receipts and slips are lost or discarded by accident, and are therefore no longer available when needed to claim a refund on faulty or damaged goods.

To overcome this problem, the present invention proposes a cylindrical device into which paper receipts or slips can be inserted, through a slot on the outside of the cylinder, onto a central ratcheted hand-turned spindle for safe storage. When needed, or when the cylinder is full, the stored receipts and slips can then be retrieved by unscrewing the said spindle in the opposite direction and removing it from the cylinder.

The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows the complete device Figure 2 shows the central spindle mechanism Figure 3 shows the internal thread which secures the spindle and ratchet mechanism In Figure 1 the main cylinder (A) is shown together with the slot (B) into which the receipt is inserted. It also shows the ratcheted turning mechanism (C) which is turned by hand to roll the receipt into the cylinder.

Figure 2 shows the internal spindle (D) and the ratcheted turning mechanism onto which the receipts are rolled. Attached to this spindle are two rubber washers (E) that help to grip the receipt when it is pushed through the slot. The spindle is held in place by being screwed into the cylinder via the machined thread (F) which forms part of the turning mechanism.

Figure 3 shows the End Cap (G) which is permanently affixed to the cylinder, and the internal screw thread (I-I) into which the spindle is screwed to secure it in place.
