Abstract
A received speech signal encoded according to a source filter model is decoded by determining a spectral envelope signal, and deriving a remaining signal representative of the modelled filter comprising successive periodic portions by, at intervals, determining correlation between the periodic portions and predicting later portions based on stored versions of earlier portions. The remaining signal is then reconstructed and a decoded speech signal generated. The stored version of the earlier portions is also, at intervals, transformed prior to generating the predictions.
