Abstract
At least one flexible balloon or bladder 1 floats on water 2 and is fluidly connected to at least one pipe 8. When waves flow over the balloon or bladder 1 a pressure is exerted causing it to deform and increase the pressure in the pipe 8 which can be used to drive an electrical generator or pump 5, eg by means of a turbine. The balloon or bladder 1 preferably has an inlet 3 and outlet 4 fitted with non-return valves to allow a continuous flow of air to a generator 5. The balloon or bladder 1 preferably self re-inflates after a wave. Preferably the fluid in the balloon or bladder is air 6, and the pump may feed a water reservoir which feeds an electricity generator as in a hydroelectric dam. There may be two or more balloon or bladders and pipes and there may be surplus pipe leading to the balloon or bladder and the pipe may be staked to the sea bed 7.
