Abstract
The invention relates to an audio messaging system 1 comprising: at least one loudspeaker 11,21; at least one sensor 14,24 adapted to sense the identity of a person in the proximity of the or each sensor; a receive device 41 arranged to receive audio messages from a third party for delivery to a specific person whose identity is sensed by the or each sensor 14,24; and a controller 43 to compare whether an identity signal from the sensor corresponds to the specific person, and in response to playback a received audio message through the at least one loudspeaker 11,21. The system may further be arranged to provide video messages to identified persons via at least one display device. The identity of a person may be determined by means of an identity tag 30 worn by a person, or by means of a camera 13,23. The system is particularly suited for use at a sports circuit whereby each sensor is spaced apart along the circuit.
Description
Title: Communication System The present invention relates to a communication system.
According to the present invention there is provided a communication system comprising: a) at least one audio transducer, such as a loudspeaker, b) at least one sensor adapted to sense the identity of a person in the proximity of the or each sensor and to create an identity signal relating to the identity of a person, c) a receive device to receive audio messages from a third party for delivery to a specific person whose identity is to be sensed by the or each sensor, and d) a controller to compare when an identity signal from the sensor corresponds to the specific person audio messages are to he delivered to from the receive device, and to play the audio messages through the tmnsducer/s.
The audio messages may be delivered in real time or may be pre-recorded.
Preferably the system further comprises at least one display screen and said receive device receives video messages from a third party for delivery to a specific person, and the controller compares when an identity signal from the sensor is the specific person video messages are to be delivered to from the receive device, and to play the video messages through the display screen/s. The video messages may be delivered in real time or may be pre-recorded.
Preferably a storage device is further provided to store audio or video messages for delivery to a specific person whose identity is to be sensed by the or each sensor, whereby the device can store messages before a specific person is sensed by the or each sensor.
Preferably the system further comprises plurality of identity units, each unit being adapted to be connected to a person and supplying information about the identity of a person, and sensor adapted to sense when an identity unit is in the proximity of the sensor and to create an identity signal relating to the identity of a person as supplied by the identity unit.
Preferably the identity units are adapted to be connected to the body of a person.
Preferably system comprises at least one camera to photograph persons. The camerals may photograph persons audio and/or video images are to be delivered to from the receive device.
The camera/s may provide still or moving images. A mobile phone network circuit and/or internet circuit is provided to send audio and/or video images as provided by the camera/s.
In one embodiment a mobile phone network circuit and/or internet circuit is provided to receive audio and/or video images for storage by the receive device.
Preferably the system is part of a sports circuit and each sensor is spaced apart along the circuit, Preferably each sensor is located at a station containing an audio transducer and/or display screen.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings showing a schematic diagram.
Referring to the drawing there is shown a communication system I for a sport circuit such as Marathon circuit X around which runners Y run in a race.
Located around circuit X, and forming part of system 1, are two station 10,20.
Station 10 has a loudspeaker 11, a video screen 12, and a camera 13, and a sensor 14.
Station 20 has a loudspeaker 21, a video screen 22, and a camera 23, and a sensor 24.
Each runner X wears an identity unit such as a tag 30 (e.g. on the shoe). Each tag is coded to give the identify of each specific runner. Sensors 14 and 24 can communicate with each tag 30 when the tag is in the proximity of the sensors (e.g. within 20 metres), and each sensor adapted to sense the identity of a person by reading a tag 30 to create an identity signal relating to the identity of a person.
A control station 40 is provided having a receive device 41 which can receive audio or video messages from a third party W for delivery to a specific runner in the race. Such messages may typically be sent from a third parties' mobile over a mobile phone network or using a landline telephone. or from a third parties' computer over the internet. The third path may typically be a family friend or fan of the runner and the audio or video message may contain a motivational message to encourage the runner. Each message will by coded with an identity code which corresponds or is associated with to the code in tag 30 of each runner.
A storage device 42 is provide to store any messages received by the receiver 4 i.
A controller 43 is connected to the storage device 42 and receiver 41. When a runner Y passes in proximity of a sensor 14 or 24, the sensor l4or 24 will send the controller 43 an identity signal. The controller will compare this signal with any identity code of messages in the receiver 41 or storage device 42 to see if a message is intended for the runner Y. If there is a message, any audio and/or video message will be played on the loudspeaker 11 or 21 or screen 12 or 22. The runner Y will be able to see and or hear the message as he or she runs through the station 10 or 20. At the same time the camera 13 or23 is activated by the controller to take still or video pictures of the runner Y. Any video cameras such as 13 or 23 may record all the time and the video system may be synchronized and time stamped with the identity code of the relevant runners. The video cameras may be placed in pairs "Back to Back" so that they will be able to show a runner as he or she arrives and departs at each station.
Pictures from camera 13 or 23 can be recorded by the storage device 42 to be played back at a later date, could be transmitted to the third party "W" via a mobile phone network or the internet. or delivered to a social networking site "A" over the internet.
The messages. whether audio or video can be delivered to the runner either in real time. in which case they do not need to be stored in the storage device 42, or they may be pre-recorded and sent to the receiver prior to the runner reaching station 10 or 20. Also the third party could select at which station 10 or 20 the message is delivered.
It is envisaged that on a marathon circuit of some 26 miles, six or so stations may be provided around the circuit.
Runner Y may also be provided with means to log in on-line to a dedicated internet account to adjust the volume of any audio being delivered to him or her so that any negative messages need not be heard, or to cancel any messages.
The invention may take a form different to that specifically described above. For example instead of a tag, the sensor may scnse another device on the person in proximity of a sensor, or the sensor may use face recognition or character recognition techniques. Just audio or just video messages could be delivered in which case either just a screen or just an audio transducer would be provided at a station. Instead of a single loudspeaker (or other transducer) at a station, multiple speakers may be provided spaced near the circuit and each speaker could be dedicated to messages for specific runners. Messages to specific runners will he recorded and delivered in Channels" like in recording studios that record each instrument on a different chann&.
Further modifications will he apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
