PEDAL EXERCISE MACHINE
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a leg exercise equipment, and more particularly, to a foldable pedal exercise machine which has a simple structure and can save the space.
2. Description of the FriorArt
An exerciser has a certain complicated configuration and size under consideration to bear weight and exercise effect. Because of the complicated configuration, the exerciser occupies a lot of space. This increases the cost for storage and transportation. The exerciser is not applied to a domestic surrounding or an office place.
Accordingly, the inventor of the present invention has devoted himself based on his many years of practical experiences to solve these problems.
IS SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The primary object ot the present invention is to provide a foldable pedal exercise machine to save the space for storage and transportation and to be used at any time.
Another object the present invention is to provide a foldable step machine which can be manufactured and assembled with ease and is cost-effective.
In order to achieve the aforesaid objects and effect, the pedal exercise machine of the present invention comprises a main frame, a pedal unit and two foot frames.
Two ends of the main frame have extension rod portions which are inclined downward. The extension rod portions at the two ends of the main frame have free ends formed with joint recesses facing downward. The extension rod portions at the two ends of the main frame have engagement holes thereon to communicate with the joint recesses.
The pedal unit is pivotally connected to the main frame through a crank. Two ends of the crank are pivotally connected with a pair of pedals.
The foot frames are pivotally connected to the free ends of the extension rod portions of the main frame. The foot frames are provided with movable joints corresponding to the joint recesses of the main frame. The movable joints are pivotally connected in the joint recesses. The movable joints have accommodation holes corresponding to the engagement holes of the extension rod portions for insertion of elastic buckles.
The pedal exercise machine of the present invention comprises the main frame, the pedal unit and the foldable foot frames, which has a simple configuration. When in use, the two foot frames are unfolded and placed on the ground for the user to tread the pedals of the pedal unit. When not in use, the two foot frames can be selectively folded to save the space for storage and transportation.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Embodiments of the present invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
As shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the pedal exercise machine of the present invention comprises a main frame 10 and a pedal unit 20 which is pivotally connected to the main frame 10. Two ends of the main frame 10 are connected with a pair of foot frames 40 which are placed on the ground. The foot frames 40 are selectively foldable relative to the main frame 10.
Referring to Fig. ito Fig. 4, the main frame 10 is composed of two reverse V-shaped side covers ii to engage with each other. The two ends of the main frame have extension rod portions 15 which are inclined downward. The extension rod portions i5 at the two ends of the main frame 10 have free ends formed with joint recesses 16 facing downward. The extension rod portions 15 at the two ends of the main frame 10 have pivot portions 17 at two sides of the joint recesses 16. Through pivot members i8, the foot frames 40 are pivotally connected in the joint recesses 16 of the extension rod portions 15 of the main frame 10. The extension rod portions at the two ends of the main frame 10 have engagement holes 19 thereon. The engagement holes 19 communicate with the joint recesses 16 for the foot frames 40 to be selectively positioned.
The pedal unit 20 comprises a crank 21 which is inserted through the center of the main frame 10. Two ends of the crank 21 are pivotally connected with a pair of pedals 22. The user can tread on the pedals 22 to drive the crank 21. The pedal unit 20 comprises a pair of magnet seats 25 corresponding in position to the two outer sides of the main frame 10. One of the magnet seats 25 is provided with an induction magnet 26 at an inner side thereof. The pedal unit 20 comprises a digital watch 28 disposed on the main frame 10. The digital watch 28 comprises an induction bar 29 disposed on the main frame 10. The induction bar 28 corresponds to the rotation radius of the induction magnet 26 on the magnet seat 25 to count the number of rotation of the crank 21 of the pedal unit 20. The main frame 10 comprises a resistance unit 30 disposed on the crank 21 of the pedal unit 20. The resistance unit 30 is adapted to change the damping action and to count the consuming calorie for the digital watch 28.
The resistance unit 30 is disposed in the main frame 10. The resistance unit 30 comprises an immovable damping 31 and a movable damping 32 to wrap the crank 21 of the pedal unit 20. The resistance unit 30 comprises an adjustment bolt 35 disposed on the main frame 10 and corresponding in position to the movable damping 32. The resistance unit 30 further comprises a brake plate 36 under the adjustment bolt 35 to press the movable damping 32. Through the adjustment bolt 35, the clamping force from the movable damping 32 and immovable damping 32 relative to the crank 21 can be changed to adjust the damping action of the crank 21 so as to adjust the pedal exercise effect.
Each foot frame 40 comprises a bottom rod 41 placed on the ground and at least one support rod 42 obliquely connected to the bottom rod 41. The support rod 42 has a free end connected to a movable joint 45. The movable joint 45 is received in the joint recess 16 of the respective extension rod portion 15 of the main frame 10.
The movable joint 45 has a pivot portion 46 corresponding to the pivot portion 17 of the respective joint recess 16. The movable joint 45 of the foot frame 40 is pivotally connected to the respective extension rod portion 15 of the main frame 10 through the pivot member 18. The movable joint 45 of the foot frame 40 has an accommodation hole 47 corresponding to the engagement hole 19 of the extension rod portion 15. An elastic buckle 48 is inserted through the accommodation hole 47 and into the engagement hole 19. The movable joint 45 comprises an elastic member 49 located at the bottom of the elastic buckle 48 and a plug member 50 located at the bottom of the accommodation hole 47 to hold against the elastic member 49. The elastic buckle 48 is biased by the elastic member 49 to extend outward. Thus, the pedal exercise machine of the present invention has a simple configuration and is foldable.
Referring to Fig. 1 and Fig. 3, when in use, the two foot frames 40 are unfolded outward to extend the extension rod portions 15 of the main frame 10. The elastic buckles 48 of the movable joints 45 of the foot frames 40 are engaged with the engagement holes 19 of the joint recesses 16 of the extension rod portions 15, such that the main frame 10 supported by the two foot frames 40 is placed on the ground.
The user sits on a chair and the pedal exercise machine is placed in front of the user for the user to tread the pedals 22 of the pedal unit 20 with his/her feet like riding a bicycle to turn the crank 21 for leg exercise. By adjusting the adjustment bolt 35 of the resistance unit 30, the clamping force from the movable damping 32 and the immovable damping 31 relative to the crank 21 can be changed to adjust the damping action for a desired exercise effect.
As shown in Fig. 4 to Fig. 6, the pedal exercise machine of the present invention can be folded. The elastic buckle 48 of the movable joint 45 of the foot frame 40 is pressed downward to disengage from the engagement hole 19 of the joint recess 16 of the extension rod portion 15, so that the movable joint 45 of the foot frame 40 can be turned about the pivot member 18 to be folded toward the inner side of the main frame 10. The elastic buckle 48 is returned by the elastic member 49 for the next use. The two foot frames 40 can be folded to reduce the size of the pedal exercise machine for storage and transportation.
Although particular embodiments of the present invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
Accordingly, the present invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
