Abstract

A hinged EAS hard security tag comprises two units, the first unit being formed with a male pin 1, by which the tag is attached to the material of an object to be protected, and the second unit being formed with a female hole in which the pin is releasably locked. The two units are pivotally hinged together in a substantially permanent arrangement. The hinge 4 is preferably a floating hinge. The hinge pivots to allow the pin and tag to become aligned and parallel allowing the floating aspect of the hinge to guide the male pin into the female tag freely. The hinge may have springs integrated into it to bias the unit into an open position when not in use in order for it to be more easily removed at the point of sale. Multiple male pins and respective female holes may be provided.
