Abstract
An extension device suitable for electric hair straightener arms comprises wedge-shaped parts attached to the end of each arm of a pair of hair straighteners. These parts may either be formed integrally with the straightener arms, or may be provided in the form of attachments. The extension device enables one handed safe collection of hair for delivery to the ceramic plates. The length of the extension device is approximately 4cm, and the wedge shape increases in depth from the free end to be the same height as the ceramic hot plates at the attached end. Hair travels up the surface of the wedge and on to the ceramic hot plates.
Description
Hair Straightener Extension
DESCRIPTION
Today's straighteners are all cloned from the same design with a thick round end, this does not make for easy hair lifting or collection , these designs involve the user mostly having to manually hand lift the hair into the straightener.
This invention relates to a device being built in at the time of manufacture (or possibly as an attachment to fix onto existin g straighteners). This involves at the time of manufacture incorporating slightly longer straightener arms on the straighten ers. This extra length of approx 4cms would be produced by moulding into the arms at the time of production. The extra I ength would be a wedge shaped protrusion with a fine rounded end, the depth would be such that the wedge travels up to be level with the top of the ceramic hot plates.
The idea being the user would be able to run the extension along scalp, hair would travel up the wedge and on to ceramic hotplates. The design would also enable the user to feel the run of the hair being lifted from the scalp. (Much better than grabbing clumps of hair manually, which can result in contact burns of fingers and hands).
Claims (1)
- Hair Straightener Extension CLAIM This adaption to the straighteners would help reduce the contact burns to the hands and fingers while picking up hair ma nually and feeding into the straighteners as the majority of users do, especially so when working blind at the back of the head. As straightener electric cords swivel it would be easy to use either left or right handed and this hair straightener extensio n would allow the user to do their hair with a one handed action (instead of two). Following 10 minutes of arms aloft dryin g your hair with a dryer prior to using your straighteners this extension design could help relieve upper arm/shoulder stre ss by allowing the user to then use the straightener one handed, both left and right hand side. Another important factor with this design is I believe it would be of great assistance to any person with restrictions such a s arm amputees, stroke victims with loss of upper arm usage and any persons with a restriction of movement to arms, ne ck or shoulders. Being able to perform the task of doing ones own hair would obviously be of great satisfaction to the ind ividual concerned.
