Abstract

Non-electric ignition; tubes. - A portion of the mixture is drawn through a perforation into a tube of highly-refractory material such as silica a and is ignited therein by the heat due to its sudden compression by a plunger b actuated by a cam, eccentric, or other means. A ball c made of the same material as the tube, may partially close the perforation, and the plunger may be hollowed out to fit the ball.
