Abstract

A poster or document holder uses the attractive force between magnetic items 1, 3 to hold posters/documents in place on walls or other surfaces. One of the magnetic items 1 is attached to the wall/surface with an adhesive 1a. The document 2 is held in place by sandwiching it between the magnetic items 1, 3. The magnetic item attached to the surface, has a region which has no adhesive 1b, allowing it to be removed from the wall/surface more easily. The magnetic items can be used in a variety of configurations, sizes and quantity ratios. In one arrangement (Figure 9) the magnetic item 1 attached to the surface is in the form of a single long strip to which a number of separate documents 2 may be attached by means of a number of separate magnetic items 3.

Description

Magnetic Poster/Document Holder
1-Background
This invention relates to a magnetic poster/document holder which allows posters/documents to be held onto a given surface/wall with minimal damage to both the poster/document and without placing any holes into a given wall/surface on which the poster/document is to be held.
If people want to hold posters/documents onto walls/surfaces they use pins, screws, nails or adhesives. Pins, screws and nails create holes in their walls/surfaces and sometimes the poster/document as well. Using adhesives can prevent the need for holes in walls/surfaces, but can cause permanent damage and discolouration to the both the poster/document and the wall/surface, as well as making it difficult to interchange and rotate the posters/documents. People living in rented accommodation are often prohibited from causing any permanent damage to walls/surfaces in the form of holes, making it difficult for these people to hold any posters/documents onto walls/surfaces without damaging their posters/documents.
2 -Statement of invention
To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes holding posters/documents using the attractive force between magnetic items placed either side of the posters/documents. At least one of the magnetic items is attached to the wall using an adhesive, the poster(s)/document(s) is/are then placed over magnetic item, and then a second magnetic item is placed over the poster(s)/document(s), in a position opposite to the magnetic item which has been attached to the wall /surface using an adhesive. This allows the attractive force between the two magnetic items to hold the poster(s)/document(s) in position. Preferably the magnetic item attached to the wall using adhesive, has a section of the side attached to the wall/surface, which is adhesive free, allowing it to be removed from the wall/surface, in a manner which minimizes the damage to the wall/surface.
3-Advantages * No holes are placed into the wall.
* No holes are placed into the posters/documents * No adhesive is needed to be adhered to the poster/document meaning damage to the poster/document is minimized.
* Because the poster(s)/document(s) is/are only held in place using magnetic attraction, it/they can be easily removed, rotated or replaced.
* Preferably a section of the magnetic item that is attached to the wall/surface will have an adhesive free section, allowing it to be removed from the wall/surface with minima! damage to the wall/surface.
* Potentially multi-layers of posters/documents can be held in place without the need to attach or interlinlc any of the posters/documents.
4-Introduction to Drawings
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1-Shows a section of wall with magnetic item 1 attached using an adhesive.
Figure 2 -Shows a section of wall with poster/document 2 being positioned over magnetic item 1.
Figure 3 -Shows a section of wall with poster/document 2 being held in place between magnetic item I and magnetic item 3.
Figure 4 -Shows a section of wall with magnetic item l's being positioned ideally to hold a poster/document at four points along the perimeter.
Figure 5 -Shows a section of wall/surface with poster/document 2 being positioned over magnetic item l's.
Figure 6-Shows a section of wall with poster/document 2 being held in place at four points on the perimeter between magnetic item l's and magnetic item 3's.
Figure 7 -Shows a section of wall with elongated version magnetic item 1.
Figure 8 -Shows a section of wall with several posters/documents 2 being positioned over the elongated magnetic item 1.
Figure 9 Section of wall with several posters/document 2 being held in place between magnetic item 1 and magnetic item 3's.
Figure 1 shows magnetic item 1 (which is sub divided up into sections la and lb) attached to a wall/surface using an adhesive. Section la represents the section of magnetic item 1 which is attached to the wall/surface using an adhesive, section lb represents the section of magnetic item 1 which is adhesive free, so that magnetic item 1 may be removed with minimum damage to the wall/surface when required.
Figure 2 shows the poster/document 2, being placed over magnetic item 1 in the desired position and orientation in which the poster/document 2 is to be held.
Figure 3 shows the poster/document 2 being held in the desired position and orientation by magnetic item 3. The attractive magnetic force between magnetic item 1 and magnetic item 3 is holding poster/document 2 in place.
Figure 4 show an ideal configuration of four magnetic item l's (although any number can be used in any configuration) to hold a given poster/document.
Figure 5 shows the poster/document 2 being placed over the magnetic item l's in a position which will allow it to be held at four points, near the poster/document 2 perimeter.
Figure 6 shows a poster/document 2 being held in position at four points between magnetic item l's and magnetic item 3's. The poster/document 2 is being held in place at each point, due to the attractive magnetic force between magnetic item 1 and magnetic item 3.
Figures 7, 8, and 9 show three posters/documents 2's being held in place using one magnetic item 1 and three magnetic item 2's. Figures 7, 8, and 9 illustrate that a variety of configurations can be used. Magnetic item 1 and magnetic item 3 may be produced in a variety of sizes shapes and quantity ratios. Each poster/document 2 is being held in place due to the attractive magnetic force between magnetic item 1 and magnetic item 3. * 5
