Abstract

The present invention provides an electrical generator comprising a first rotor (12) arranged for rotation about an axis, a second rotor (22) arranged for coaxial-rotation with the first rotor (12) about the said axis, a first stator for generating polyphase alternating current by induction by the first rotor (12), comprising a first plurality of conductor coils (14-1, 14-2, 14-3), each of which carries alternating current of a phase different from the other conductor coils, forming a first polyphase electrical set (14), a second stator for generating polyphase alternating current by induction by the second rotor (22), comprising a second plurality of conductor coils (24-1, 24-2, 24-3), equal in number to the first plurality of conductor coils (14-1, 14-2, 14-3), each of which carries alternating current of a phase different from the other conductor coils, forming a second polyphase electrical set (24), and a mid-winding region, in which the first polyphase electrical set (14) is electrically connected to the second polyphase electrical set (24), wherein the first plurality of coils (14-1, 14-2, 14-3) of the first polyphase electrical set (14) and the second plurality of coils (24-1, 24-2, 24-3) of the second polyphase electrical set (24) are arranged such that the output polyphase alternating current generated at the first stator when the first rotor (12) rotates in the clockwise direction is directly combined with the output polyphase alternating current generated at the second stator when the second rotor (22) rotates in the anti-clockwise direction.
