Description

TITLE: IMPROVED RIPPER STRUCTURE The present invention relates to a ripper, in particular to a ripper with a ratchet mechanism.
With reference to FIG. 7 for a conventional ripper structure, the ripper structure includes a rod 71 with a rigging fork 72 formed at the bottom of the rod, a handle 73 pivotally coupled to the top of the rod 71, and a ratchet mechanism 74 installed at the pivotal connection position of the handle 73 and the rod 71, such that the handle 73 can drive the rod 71 and the rigging fork 72 at the bottom of the rod 71 to rotate, and a user can hold the handle to move sideway or back and forth by both hands, so as rig soil quickly. However, the conventional rigger structure still has the following drawbacks: 1. Since the ratchet mechanism 74 is installed at the top of the rod 71, therefore the force applying position for transmitting kinetic forces is the position of the ratchet mechanism 74 which is farther from the soil, and the force cannot be applied directly, and the forces exerted onto the ratchet mechanism 74 and the top of the rod 71 are increased greatly.
2. The ratchet mechanism is installed at a pivotaL connecting position of the top of the rod 71 and the handle 73, such that the forces applied by both hands are not even to cause tilted latch teeth and damage the latch teeth easily.
3. The increased volume and weight of the handle 73 cause the shortcomings of a difficult grip and an easy shaking due to a high center of gravity. In addition, it is necessary to reserve a space on the handle 73 for receiving the ratchet mechanism 74, so that the structural strength of the handle 73 will be reduced greatly.
4. Only one latch tooth 75 is provided for the one-way latch, and thus the latching effect is poor.
With reference to FIG. 8 for another conventional ripper, the ratchet I' mechanism 84 comes with two latch teeth 85 instead to improve the latching effect, but the ratchet mechanism 84 is still installed at the pivotal connecting position of the top of the rod 81 and the handle 83, so that the practical application still has the same drawbacks as described in 1,2and3.
Therefore, it is a primary objective of the present invention to provide an improved ripper structure, wherein a ratchet is fixed at the bottom of the connecting rod, and a force applying position for transmitting kinetic forces is very close to the soil.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a ripper with a smooth and stable operation, and a durable ratchet mechanism of the ripper.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a ripper with a ratchet installed at a pedal to use existing components to lower the manufacturing cost and enhance the structural strength of the ripper.
To achieve the aforementioned objectives, the present invention provides an improved ripper structure, comprising: a connecting rod, having a handle coupled to the top of the connecting rod and a ratchet fixed to the bottom of the connecting rod; a ripping element, having an actuating portion formed at the bottom of the ripping element, a pedal transversally installed at the top of the ripping element, a connecting plate installed at the top of the pedal, a containing slot formed at the center of the connecting plate for receiving the ratchet at the bottom of the connecting rod, and two latch teeth formed in the containing slot and latched to the ratchet unidirectionally; and a cover plate, sheathed on the connecting rod, pressed downwardly to abut the ratchet and cover the containing slot, and the cover plate, the connecting plate and the pedal being fixed by a plurality of positioning elements.
In addition, a positioning plate and a dust cover are coupled to the it I connecting rod, and a positioning hole is formed at the center of the positioning plate, and a positioning portion and a dust protective portion are formed at the external periphery of the dust cove, and an inner hole axially formed at the center of the dust cover, wherein the internal sidewall of the inner hole of the dust cover is attached to the external periphery of the connecting rod, and the external peripheral surface of the dust protective portion is attached to the internal sidewall of the penetrating hole of the cover plate, and the bottom side of the positioning portion is attached to the top side of the connecting plate, and the external peripheral surface of the positioning portion is attached to the internal sidewall of the positioning hole of the positioning plate.
The inyention will now be described in detail by way of example with reference to the drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is an exploded view of the first preferred embodiment of the present invention; FIG. 2 is.a perspective view of an assembly of FIG. 1; FIG. 3 is a partial cross-sectional view of an assembly of FIG. 1; FIG. 4 is a schematic view of an application of the first embodiment of the present invention; FIG. 5 is an exploded view of the second preferred embodiment of the present invention FIG. 6 is a partial cross-sectional view of an assembly of FIG. 5; FIG. 7 is a perspective view of a conventional ripper structure; and FIG. S is an exploded view of another conventional ripper structure.
With reference to FIGS. 1 to 3 for an improved ripper structure of the first embodiment of the present invention, the ripper structure comprises a connecting rod 11, a ripping element 21 and a cover plate 31.
The connecting rod 11 of this embodiment is comprised of an upper section 111 and a lower section 112, and both upper section 111 and lower section 112 are in a hollow circular tubular shape, and a connecting eLement 113 with a reinforcing effect is installed between the upper section 111 and the lower section 112, and both ends of the connecting element 113 are inserted into the upper section 111 and lower section 112 respectively, and then a connecting ring 114 is sheathed on the external periphery where the upper section 111 and the lower section are connected, and then a plurality of locking elements 115 passes through the connecting ring 114 to combine the upper section 111 and the lower section 112. A handle 12 is installed at the top of the connecting rod 11 comprised of the upper section 111 and the lower section [12 and transversally extended for allowing a user to grip the handle 12 by both hands. In this embodiment, a ratchet 13 is fixed to the bottom of the connecting rod 11, and the ratchet 13 is fixed to the bottom position of the connecting rod 11 by welding.
In this embodiment, an actuating portion 22 is fixed to the bottom of the ripping element 21, wherein the actuating portion 22 is comprised of a plurality of downwardly extended rigging forks. A pedal 23 is transversally installed at the top of the ripping element 21, and a connecting plate 24 is installed at the top side of the pedal 23, and a circular containing slot 241 is formed at the center of the connecting plate 24, and the ratchet 13 at the bottom of the connecting rod 11 is installed and contained in the containing slot 241 of the connecting plate 24. A recession 242 is separately and concavely formed at both opposite sides of the containing slot 241, and each of the two recessions 242 is provided for installing and containing a latch tooth 25 and an elastic element 26, and the two latch teeth 25 are elastically pressed by elastic element 26 and respectively and unidirectionally latched to both opposite sides of the ratchet 13.
A penetrating hole 32 is formed at the center of the cover plate 31 and provided for sheathing on the connecting rod 11, and the internal sidewall of the penetrating hole 32 is attached to the external sidewall of the connecting rod 11. The cover plate 31 is pressed downwardly to abut the top of the ratchet 13 to cover the containing slot 241, and a plurality of positioning elements 33 is provided for passing through and fixing the cover plate 31, the connecting plate 24 and the pedal 23.
With the aforementioned structure of the present invention, if a user rotates the handle 12 by both hands to drive and rotate the ratchet 13 at the bottom of the connecting rod 11, the actuating portion 22 of the ripping element 21 is coupled to the pedal 23 and the connecting plate 24, and the latch teeth 25 in the connecting plate 24 can just latch the ratchet 13 unidirectionally, so that when the user rotates the handle 12 in a predetermined direction to drive the ratchet 13 at the bottom of the connecting rod 11 to latch with the latch teeth 25, the ripping element 21 is linked and rotate synchronously for a rigging operation. On the other hand, if the user rotates the handle 12 in an opposite direction, the latch teeth 25 are pushed by the ratchet 13 to compress the corresponding elastic element 26 to release the latch status. Now, the connecting rod 11 cannot drive the ripping element 21 to rotate synchronously, and the ripping element 21 will be at an idle state. The aforementioned operation is carried out repeatedly to rig the soil easily.
In addition, the ratchet 13 is fixed to the bottom of the connecting rod 11, and the force applying position used for transmitting kinetic forces is the same position of the ratchet 13 which is very close to the soil, such that the forces applied by the user can drive the operation of the ripping element 21 directly to provide an efficient way of transmitting forces.
In the present invention, the ratchet 13 is fixed to the bottom of the connecting rod 11, and the latch teeth 25 are installed and contained in the connecting plate 24at the top of the pedal 23, and thus will not increase the volume and weight of the handle 12.
In FIG. 4, the ratchet 13 and the latch teeth 25 are near the actuating portion 22 of the ripping element 21, so that the center of gravity of the rigger of the present invention is lowered significantly. When the actuating portion 22 is inserted into the soil, a better stability of the latch teeth 25 near the actuating portion 22 can be achieved to prevent any deviation of the actuating portion 22 and provide a smoother operation while the latch teeth 25 are rotating at the ratchet 13.
In the present invention, the ratchet 13 is fixed to the bottom of the connecting rod 11, and the pedal 23 is used as a support plate of the ratchet 13. Existing components are used to lower the manufacturing cost, and the structural strength of the rigger assembly can be enhanced as well. In the present invention, it is not necessary to reserve any space in the handle 12 for installing and containing the ratchet 13, so that there is no concern of an insufficient structural strength of the handle 12.
In addition, the connecting rod 11 of the present invention is assembled by sheathing an upper section 111 to a lower section 112 to reduce the packaging volume.
With reference to FIGS. 5 and 6 for the second preferred embodiment of the present invention, the difference between the second embodiment and the first embodiment resides on that the connecting rod 11 b is comprised of hollow square tubular upper section 111 b and lower section 112b, and a positioning plate 41 and a dust cover 51 are sheathed on the connecting rod 1 lb, and a positioning hole 42 is formed at the center of the positioning plate 41, and a positioning portion 52 and a dust protective portion 53 are formed at the external periphery of the dust cover 51, and a square inner hole 54 is axially formed at the center of the dust cover 51, and the internal sidewall of the inner hole 54 of the dust cover 51 is attached to the external periphery of the connecting rod 11, and the external peripheral surface of the dust protective portion 53 is attached to the internal sidewall of the penetrating hole 32 of the cover plate 31, and the bottom side of the positioning portion 52 is attached to the top side of the connecting plate 24, and the external peripheral surface of the positioning portion 52 is attached to the internal sidewall of the positioning hole 42 of the positioning plate 41, and the cover plate 31 is pressed downwardly to abut the positioning plate 41 to cover the containing slot 241, and a plurality of positioning elements 33 is provided for passing through and fixing the cover plate 31, the positioning plate 41, the connecting plate 24 and the pedal 23.
With the positioning plate 41 and the dust cover 51 of this embodiment, the present invention has the advantage of easy manufacturing and assembling when applied to the square tubular connecting rod 11 b. In this embodiment, the hollow square tubular upper section 111 lb is sheathed on the lower section 1 l2b, such that planes of the square tubes of the upper and lower sections 1 lib, 1 12b are abutted with one another to produce a position limiting effect and provide a better torque resistance.
