Abstract

A peripheral device 26 comprises a foot or mounting shoe 71, adapted to fit in a slot 20 in a display housing 16, and a biasing member 70 that forces the foot outward. The foot comprises a data connection 76, 78 and enables the peripheral device to couple to an electrical bus in the slot. The foot may comprise a power connection 72, 74 that receives power from a power bus 62, 64 in the slot and the data connection may receive data from or transmit data to a data bus 66, 68 in the slot. The device may further comprise logic that receives a signal from a location sensing element 82 in the slot, the logic determining the physical location of the peripheral device along the slot. Preferably, the device logic transmits a value indicative of the deviceâ s location to logic contained in the display housing.
