Abstract
A limescale prevention device comprises a holder containing at least one magnet wherein the holder is mounted upon the exterior surface of a pipe. The magnets are used to inhibit scale formation and remove existing limescale in pipework and heating appliances. The device ideally comprises eight magnets. The magnet may be a neodymium magnet. The device may be formed of a plastics material. The device is designed to fit easily onto standard pipe work and is held in position by a resistance force between the pipe work and the magnets in the holder.

Limescale Prevention Device This invention relates to a magnetic limescale prevention device which utilises magnets which help to inhibit scale formation and remove existing limescale in pipework and heating appliances.
Limescale is a common household problem, which results in a high percentage of energy waste, damaging appliances and fittings and decreases the quality of the water.
Current devices use costly electric power to run or weaker magnets in their design and may be bulky and require tools to install. To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a limescale prevention device made with 8 powerfull 4100 gauss high strength neodymium magnets.
The device is easy to install made of plastic and low cost, and is designed to fit easily between standard pipe spacing pipework.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 Side view, shows the shaded cross sectional area of the rectangular slots for the magnets.

Figures 7 & 8 shows the correct position of the pipework within the device.
The descaling device is simply pushed firmly onto the pipework, it is held by a tight resistance force between the pipework and the magnets in the holder. It is fitted on the incoming cold water supply just after the stopcock before the pipework branches off to the outlets. Another device is fitted as close as possible onto the pipework from the hot water cylinder (if fined) to protect all the hot water outlets.

Claims (3)
- Claims 1. A limescale prevention device which utilises magnets to help inhibit scale formation and remove existing limescale in pipework and heating appliances and which is simply held on the pipework by a resistance force between the pipework and the magnets in the holder.
- 2. 8 magnets are arranged in a precise way within the holder.
