Abstract

A method and device enables efficient receipt of multicast data at a network node. The method includes joining a multicast transfer group (step 510). A data stream is then received from a server of the multicast transfer group, where the data stream includes the multicast data (step 515). Subsequently, it is detected that a missed data packet included in the multicast data was not received in the data stream (step 520). An error status mode is therefore activated (step 525). It is then determined whether to transmit an error message to the multicast transfer group after the error status mode is activated (step 530).
