Abstract

A pre-tied necktie having a knot portion with a knot support which is shaped to define the overall appearance of the knot portion, a front blade portion (9) and a collar which forms a closed loop and is adapted to fit a shirt collar. The garment also has a rear tie portion which is separable into first and second sides which are extendable through respective sides of the knot portion to form at least part of each side of the collar, and collar enlargement and reduction means which (7a, 7b) adjust the point of connection between the first and second sides to enlarge and reduce the collar size. The collar size can be increased and decreased using a zip mechanism or the like and the collar can be easily removed by the inclusion of a release mechanism. The garment's reliability is improved by providing an indicator strip (33) which shows the user where the collar should be held to affect a smooth change in collar size.
