Abstract
A plastic drinks bottle which is divided horizontally into multiple compartments called segments. Each segment can be removed separately from the others in order to consume or remove the drink within. The division of the drinks bottle into segments allows for better utilisation of storage space as the volume of the stack bottle will decrease as the contents are consumed and a lower cleaning/washing up burden as the contents of the stack bottle can be consumed without the need for a receptacle.
Description
The Stack Bottle.
This invention is a semi-rigid bottle for still drinks which comes compartmented horizontally into segments. Each segment is detachable and offers the user a single drink from the series of segments. The used segments are disposed of once the drink has been emptied. The bottle is plastic (polycarbonate) and recyclable.
If a drinks bottle of say 1.5L in volume is stored (e.g. in a refrigerator or cupboard), the volume thc bottle occupies within the storage area does not decrease as the drink is consumed, leading to an inefficient use of the storage area.
The volume of storage area taken up by the stack bottle will decrease as the drink is consumed thereby assuring that the storage area usage is maximised.
When a drink is poured from a bottle into a receptacle, it follows that the receptacle will need cleaning at some point after the drink has been consumed. The continued cycle of pour drink> consume> clean receptacle, can significantly contribute to the amount of tableware which would eventually require cleaning.
The stack bottle segments form the receptacle from which the drink within can be consumed. This gives the user the option of not using any additional receptacles during the drinking process thereby lowering the total amount of tableware to be cleaned as a result.
The drawing on page 5 depicts the following key elements: 1. Secure lid for the stack bottle with product label shown. The lid has an internal thread to ensure a firm seal with the stack bottle.
2. External thread on the first segment of the stack bottle. The plastic used to form the external thread is thicker than that used to form the curved sides seen in 3, thus increasing its rigidity. The lid described in 1 is always secured to the top of the uppermost segment.
3. Each segment has curved sides in order to provide a gripping point for the user when both removing the segment from the stack bottle and drinking from the segment.
4. Internal thread onto which the segment above is secured to the segment below.
The plastic used to form the internal thread is thicker than that used to form the curved sides seen in 3, thus increasing its rigidity. A coloured plastic band is also placed around the thread seen here to thrther increase rigidity and to provide distinct demarcation between the segment above and the segment below.
5. Foil pull tab which is removed by the user in order to consume or remove the contents of the segment via an aperture beneath the foil pull tab, which is revealed once the tab has been removed.
6. External thread onto which the segment below is secured to the segment above.
The plastic used to form the external thread is thicker than that used to form the curved sides seen in 3, thus increasing its rigidity 7. The base of the stack bottle upon which it is stood.
8. A segment from the stack bottle shown separately for clarity.
9. The arrow depicts the direction of the twisting motion required to remove a segment from the stack bottle.
Claims (3)
- Claims.1. The stack bottle allows the user to consume or remove the contents of the stack bottle without using a separate receptacle.
- 2. The amount of tableware (receptacles) which require cleaning at any given time is reduced by application of! above.
- 3. The volume of storage space occupied by the stack bottle reduces as the drink is consumed or removed, thereby making efficient use of the storage space available i.e. the storage space available will increase as the segments arc removed from the stack bottle.
