It may be made of various materials, can be different shapes, colour or size.

Description

Title:Key Friend This invention relates to a cover for a key.
As I ride a motorcycle, I use a disk lock on my front brake, on a few occasions I have forgotten the lock was on and tried to ride away with the lock in place.
The other example is forgetting to lock my car as you just press a button not inserting the key in the lock.
With the Key Friend in place it is impossible to ride your bike.
When I place the lock on my bike, I place the Key Friend on my ignition key, when I return to my bike I cannot put my key in the ignition as the key is too big. I realise there are cables to remind you but I find them ugly and look stupid and I do not use them even though I have one. This device has helped me on many occasions as I have been thinking of other things, traffic or where I need to go. The Key Friend makes it impossible for me to ride off and is discreet, only you need know you have a lock in place.
Statement of invention
To overcome the previously mentioned problems, the present invention is a method and device to remind you that you have placed a lock on a said item e.g. motorbike. As you place the lock on your bike you insert your ignition key to the bike into the key sock.
When you return to the bike it is thus impossible to insert the key in to the ignition, therefore reminding you, that you have locked an item.
Advantages The Key Friend is only visible on your key, not on the bike.
The sleeve helps as a visible reminder for any lock, as you lock the car you place the sleeve over the car key so there is no uncertainty if you did indeed lock it in the shopping centre car park.
It also helps locate your individual key. Example your house.
Description
The Key Friend is a physical barrier preventing you from placing the key in the lock.
The Key Friend can be made of many materials, plastic, rubber, metal or leather. The size and shape and colour is can vary. The ring A is to attach the sleeve to the key, it can be any mechanism as the method is to connect the key to the sleeve. B is the cord, this can be elastic or fixed, so it can be placed on your key. C is the sleeve or sock to be placed over the end of your key that prevents you from inserting your key into the ignition or lock.
You attach the key friend to your key or ring of keys A by the hole in the top of the key. When you need to lock the bike you slip the sleeve over the shaft of the key. You hold your key D in one hand and the Friend in the other and insert the end of the shaft in to the sleeve C and slide the key inside F. When you want to start your engine you simply pull the sleeve C off the key D where it remains with your key as it is attached at the top by A. It is a barrier that is a reminder to remove the lock from your bike or as a visual aid that you did lock an object. Figure 4 shows the key D inserted into the sleeve C attached to the key by A. B is the ring which opens, to attach it to the key and sleeve and not part of the invention.
F is the opening at the end view of the sleeve to insert the key into.
Descrjrtion of Drawing An example of the invention will now be described by the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1, this is the key sleeve, A is the ring to attach to your key, can be of various mechanisms. B is the cord to connect your ring and sleeve. C is the sleeve or sock to insert your key into. D is the Key.
Figure 2,shows C from the end view, it is the opening F into which you insert your key.
Figure 3, shows the different device used to attach your sleeve to your key or ring. A is a clasp or ring, B can be a chain.
Figure 4 shows key D inserted into the sock C. Key shaft is covered by entering the tip of the key shaft in to opening F and sliding it on. Making it impossible to insert your key in to the lock as it is a physical barrier making the key to big.
