Abstract

An graffiti and unwanted paint removal composition containing essentially from 10% to 30% by weight of the total composition of ethanol, wherein the ethanol is essentially free of methanol, pyridine, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and n-methyl-pyrrolidone, from 10% to 30% by weight of the total composition of acetone, from 5% to 10% by weight of the total composition of sodium hydroxide, from about 10% to 30% by weight of the total composition of a hydrophobic glycol ether, and from 5% to 10% by weight of the total composition of a non-ionic surfactant, with the remainder, water. The composition is applied to unwanted paint or graffiti on a substrate, allowed to dwell for a period of time sufficient to solubilize the unwanted paint or graffiti, and the composition and solubilized paint or graffiti is removed from the substrate with a water wash.
