Abstract

A compactable commercial table comprises a round table top surface formed from two semi-circular halves which are joined by fixings, e.g. a series of wooden or rigid members. When packed into a standard import container, the table allows for approximately 600 units per container due to the reduced volume created by the two half-round table segments. The table can be assembled by the end user using the fixings supplied.

COMPACTABLE COMMMERCIAL TABLE

This invention relates to a compactable commercial table.

It is known that domestic furniture including tables can be flat packed prior to delivery and that these products are at a later stage built by the user. According to the present invention there is provided a combined method and apparatus to provide a compacable table with a top surface with a diameter of up to ar-id or exceeding six feet which when packed into a standard import container allows for around three times the number of units to be arranged within a container and this bieng achieved by the division of the top surface into two equal halves and by the provision of a unique fixing allowing the user to assemble the two halves upon recieving the imported components and this novel method enabling the importer to divide the shio�inq costs by one third which is then reflecked in the cost to the end user and bieng achieved by the unique fixing arrangement which may be a simple series of wooden or some other rigid sections shown in fig 2 which when fixed to the underside of the two halves of the table top create a secure fixing and neat jointing of the two halves.This combined method and apparatus allows for space saving within the cubic -eno&h, s-if riritcinaro i-n' roe+rfr'fnn fl-ta tWstii in+ #4 or,ara nat esit icra,natro oe ohs-attn in fig 3 where there are four equal amounts of lost capasity and wherein fig 4 shows this loss divided by two when packed and by means of the method and apparatus described.
