Abstract

A compact marquee comprises constructional members, poles, which can be broken into shorter length sections. The maximum length of any section being 2.4 meters. Additional bracing is provided to strengthen the structure and cross braces are formed from four elongate members connected by a cruciform connector. The cruciform or X-shaped connector may be of plastics material or metal.

Description

COMPACT PRE ASSEMBLY FOR MARQUEE
This invention relates to a compact pre-assembly for marquees, gala tents, etc that is readily transportable by means of a small van or domestic car.
It is known that hollow section tubular components are readily available and that the said components are made available for the construction of marquees. A typical marquee structure is arranged and erected in bays with an industry standard length of approximately three metres. In order to produce this structural arrangement the minimum length of any one component hollow section tube is approximately three metres and sections to construct the roof structure exceed this measurement considerably. The pre-assem bled structure of hollow tubular sections is of a length that limits transportation of Said pre-assernbty to large containers, lorries, and trucks.
Storage of such pre-assembled structures when placed upon racking can be give rise to problems and especially when hired for domestic use where storage in a domestic garage is often not possible.
When erecting a typical marquee structure, two hollow sectional tubes are arranged in the form of a letter X.A further two hollow sectional tubes are arranged in the same manner and these arrangements are erected one either side of the primary bay. The X shaped tubular assembly is secured together at the centre by means of a standard nut and bolt arrangement. The purpose of said arrangement is to create a rigid and stable structure within the primary bay and from which the remaining marquee structure can be anchored and assembled. To secure these X shaped hollow sectional pole arrangements by means of standard nut and bolt does not provide for total rigidity within the structural arrangement and movement within Said structure can occur.
According to the present invention there is provided a compact pre assembly intended for the purpose of erecting small, medium or large marquee structures and that which is readily transportable within a small van or domestic motorcar. The pre assembled structure consisting of a plurality of hollow sectional tubular sections is provided with novel and innovative features which are not present in industry standard marquee structures and which provide for no one section having a maximum length of more than 2.4 metres in length To achieve this, all hollow tubular sections with lengths exceeding 2.4 metres are divided and having the provision of a method of jointing which may be provided with a male/female jointing mechanism or hinge mechanism. F-sQ To compensate for any. loss of structural stability a,,plurality of hollow sectional tubular sections are provided for use within the roofing structurg. táid sections are implemented as a ties between the frameworks that creates the roof structure and are fixed below the apex forming a triangulation at this level. $c 4 3 To further limit the pre assembly volume and weight, a structural hollow pole arrangement running along the top of the curtain wall of an industry standard marquee is eliminated. This constructional component is not necessary due to the addition of a unique mechanical jointing system provided for use in construction of the X shaped arrangements within the primary bay.14 1 ft This X shaped device is provided with one or more holes produced on each offshoot leg of said device, the provision of which allow for the fixing of an arrangement of four hollow sectional poles extending outwardly from the X shaped device. The provision of said device offers rigidity and stability within the primary bay and to the entire structure of the marquee. The device also allows for a more simple procedure for the erection of the primary bay. Said device may be manufactured from plastics, metal or some other suitable rigid material and its inclusion is intended to compensate for any loss of structural stability within this novel compact marquee/gala tent pre assembly.
The compact pit assembly provides further advantages with regards to commercial transportation. Delivery charges are based on a standard pallet width of 1.2 metres in length. The pre assembly packed length of 2.4 metres allows for the charges to be limited to a two-pallet delivery charge. Industry standard marquee structures currently incur a delivery charge based on a four-pallet price structure. There are also savings on import costs due to reduced volume and weight reductions. ..
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the. accompanying drawings in which -. FIG hows unique X shaped device FIG 2 Shows X shaped arrangement of hollow section poles in primary bay FIG 3 Shows additional unique arrangement of strengthening ties in roof structure FIG 4 Shows prefirred male/female jointing mechanism. .
