Abstract

A retractable extendable roofing structure is formed from a plurality of poles, struts or bars. At least one or the said poles, struts or bars house a retractable extendable roofing material , on a roller. The roof may be for a marquee and the roofing material can be pulled out to the required length of the roof. This enables the cover to be used for different lengths of roof.

Description

Adiustakie Roofing Structure This invention relates to a retractable extendable roofing structure for use in conjuction with modular tents and marquees.
It is well known that tents and marquees are commonly made up of a modular construction that can be erected in varying lengths and widths.
It is also common for the user of such modular constructional tents or marquees to require the flexibility to alter the length of the structure.
This is possible within the modular construction of the framework. The framework invariably has a fixed size outer roofing/covering.
Unfortunately when the framework is extended a new covering has to.
be purchased to fit to the extended structure.
According to the present invention there is provided a roofing method for use in conjunction with modular tents and or marquees, formed from a plurality of polesstruts or bars wherein at least one of the said plurality of poles struts or bars house a retractable extendable roofing material. The material would be of a flexible nature preferably canvas, cofton, plastic or some other flexible material including thin sheet steel.
The material could be pre-wound to a spring mechanism within one or more of the poles, struts or bars. Alternatively could be wound cnanually around one of the poles, struts or bars during the construc- *jon of the tent or marquee. This invention would provide for a roofing * §tructure that would allow for varying lengths of construction and be **.adjustable to suit the users requirements and therefore making it * jkssible for the achievement of a fully adjustable tent or marquee *.** S * (oofing structure. **SS * 0* I. A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings Fig. 1: Shows typical construction of modufar roof with poles housing retractable roof material in place.
Fig. 2: Shows roofing material in spring loaded pole arrangement and reducer to be used to couple spring loaded pole to existing modular roof structure.
Fig. 3: Shows modular ridge tile Fig. 4: Shows roofing material extended fro spring loaded poles to cover expanse of modular roof.
Fig. 5: Shows canvas or other material panels to be affixed to underside of extending roofing material.
Fig. 6: Shows retractable extendable roofing method and standard marquee under construction.
