Abstract

The trolley braking device includes ground fixture 36 having a surface profile configured to trigger a braking device 14 of a trolley. The braking device is for a trolley wheel 12 and comprises a braking member 14 arranged to act on the wheel when triggered and a surface follower, such as jockey wheel 18, arranged to bear against the ground surface. The braking member 14 may also be triggered by displacement of the surface follower 18 when the surface follower becomes displaced beyond a predetermined extent, i.e. the trolley is lifted. The surface follower 18 may be mounted on the braking member 14 for sliding or pivotal movement thereto.
