Abstract

The kit comprises a two part space chamber, made of two different size clear plastic cylinders. The smaller cylinder 2 fits inside the larger cylinder 3 reducing the space chamber to a compact size when not in use. The smaller cylinder houses a connection 1 to an inhaler at one end. The larger cylinder may have a valve assembly and a face mask 5, which fits over mouth and nose. Fitted in the face mask may be a noise making valves 4 & 6. These in and out valves are designed to make a noise only when breathing is correct, indicating that a child is receiving the essential asthma medication to keep well. All parts of inhaler disassemble for cleaning and replacement.

Description

The Description
A Child Friendly Compact Asthma lnhakr Kit Every year a large number of children are diagnosed with asthma, affecting their daily activities. They are prescribed two types of medication, one is clenil mod ulite which is administrated twice daily, two puffs in the morning and two puffs in the evening. When a child has a cold and is chesty you can administrate ventolin four times daily. Both medications can be used in conjunction with each other. In theory a child is using their asthma inhaler six times a day. The asthma inhaler kit is thirty years old, comprising of space chamber and a face mask. The face mask is placed over a Childs mouth and nose, which disencourages a child to use the asthma kit properly.
Children unable to use their asthma inhaler kit properly will not receive their essential medication, and must attend hospital to go on a metablizer machine, staying in hospital until asthma is under control and the child is well enough to go home. By fitting two noise making breathe in (Fig 1 No 4) and breathe out valves (Fig 1 No 6), which would make a noise then the child is breathing properly, would encourage the child to use the face mask correctly. An additional feature of this inhaler kit is to reduce it to a compact size for easy storage and transport. The space chamber is designed in two parts retained together. One end of the smaller chamber (Fig 1 No 2) has a rubber cap for housing medication (Fig 1 No 1). The other end of the small chamber (Fig 1 No2) slides into the large chamber (Figi No3) when not in use. At the top end of the large chamber houses a noise making in valve (Fig 1 NO 4), attached to this is a soft rubber face mask (Fig 1 No 5). At the top of the face mask is a noise making out valve (Fig 1 NO 6). All asthma inhaler parts disassemble for cleaning and replacement. (Fig 2) shows the asthma inhaler reduced to compact size. (Fig 3) the asthma inhaler.
