Abstract
A transparent mask 4 is attached to a face using two elastic straps 3 which loop round the ears. This allows a hairdresser to safely cut the customers hair, particularly to cut a straight fringe using guide lines 2. A datum line 1 may be provided which is aligned with the centre of the eyes. The mask 4 is preferably provided in a roll so it has a natural bend to fit the curvature of the face and forehead. The mask 4 is of particular use when cutting the hair of young children, as it helps to protect their eyes and face from injury if they were to move suddenly.
Description
DISCRIPTION PAGE 1 An aid for haircutting
Introduction to drawings no 1 and no 2
Drawing no 1 is a cut down version of the full facial mask viewed from the front.
Drawing no2 is a view of the facial mask being worn by the user from the front in fig 2a and from the side in fig 2b DISCRIPTION continued.
My idea is a full facial mask see drawings no 1 and 2 item no 4 which is attached to the ears with two elastic straps item no 3 on drawing no 2 fig 2b, being attached in this way it allows the hairdresser to cut the hair all over the head, front, back top and sides without having to make any adjustments to the mask during the haircut.
With my idea it eliminates any hair from falling in the eyes, nose, and mouth, any of which can cause sudden movement of the users head which may result in injury from using scissors near the eyes and face. In my own personal experience from cutting my two daughters fringes when they were young, and now my granddaughters i am well aware of the risks involved.
With the hair hanging over the front of the mask as in drawing no 2 fig 2a and fig 2b, the datum line item no 1 is lined up with the centre line of the users eyes, which then allows the hairdresser to cut the fringe to the desired length using the calibrated lines item no2.
The material used for the facial mask can be supplied in the roll form which means it has a natural bend which enables it to fit the curvature of the face and forehead.
Having had discreet conversations with hairdresser's i have had comments such as its a nightmare we dread cutting hair on some children and some people who suffer with some kind of dementia. They say various ideas have been tried none have been successful.
With my idea i think some young Mums will buy the mask and cut their children's hair themselves because it is so easy to use and makes a good job of it at the same time. The mask will have a animals face printed on it to make it more child friendly.
