Abstract

A system for securing a sheet, such as an incontinence sheet, to a bed comprises a first base member 1 that in use is placed under a mattress and at least one upper member that in use is placed upon the mattress, the base member having straps 2 extending from its each end of each of its longer sides that in use pass through complimentary D-rings 1 provided in the longer sides of the or each upper member so as to secure the or each upper member to the mattress. At least one of the or each upper members 4 is preferably an incontinence sheet which may be made of hypoallergenic bamboo fibre so as to resist bacterial and fungal contamination and at least one of the or each upper members 3 is may be provided with gel pouches to reduce the risk of pressure sores or bed sores.

Description

Incontinence Sheet Securing System This invention relates to managing incontinence and general protection of the bed-mattress, combined with the use of an ecological fabric which may offer some protection against bed-bug infestation.
Existing incontinence aids are not adequate. The current incontinence sheets have nylon flaps' that tuck under' the mattress. This method of securing is flawed as natural movement from the bed user causes the sheet to move away from the original placement at the same time bunching up' which can result in discomfort for the bed user, excess moisture disbursement, mattress soiling, sleeplessness, high energy consumption/laundry costs.
The invention will now show by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1: shows the non-slip fixed' sheet I which is placed on the bed base which has compression straps' 2 inset from the four corners for ease of attachment to 3 & 4 The mattress is replaced on top of the base followed by the incontinence sheet 4 each of the four corners of 4 has a loop through which the compression straps 2 are threaded up through, and then back down to be secured at the base through the double D' rings. Only the incontinence sheet is removed for washing The incontinence sheet is held firm by the compression straps' which are adjustable to any size mattress can also be used with an electric riser' bed. Quick to undo straps prior to laundering.
There could be an option to have a third sheet 3 containing Gel pouches which could be placed under the incontinence sheet to help reduce the risk of pressure sores' in people requiring extended bed use.
Figure 2: Compression straps can fix all three sheets together Optional sheet 3 can remain in place when incontinence sheet is removed.
The incontinence sheet could be made of bamboo fibre because of its properties which are naturally anti-bacterial (long term even after many industrial washes) absorbent, soft on skin, anti fungal, anti-static, Hypoallergenic and ecologically friendly.
Figures 3, 4,5 and 6: show a sequence of stages of construction.
