Abstract

A portable dog excrement retainer 1.6 comprising a foot pedal 1.1, two teeth gripped clamp members 1.2, torsion springs, snap fit hooks 1.3, a disposable dog waste bag and a retainer frame. The retainer frame is square shaped and pocket sized. The waste bag attaches to the top of the frame and is sealed through the adjoining of the two teeth gripped clamp members. The clamp members are operated through a rectangular foot pedal attached to the front of the retainer frame which when pressure is exerted, releases a torsion spring mechanism which raises the clamp members vertically from the device and snaps them together, sealing the disposable waste bag. When the device is not in use, snap fit hooks are partially affixed to the retainer frame to keep the clamp members in a horizontal position.

Description

Poop Catcher Retainer Title [1]Portable dog excrement retainer
Background of the Invention
[2]The present invention relates to a pet waste discarding device and in particular is designed to be a portable, hands free method of collecting dog waste using a disposable bag and spring mechanism allowing for a sanitary manner of discarding dog excrement.
[3] Pet waste disposal devices which have mechanisms allowing them to collect excrement in a sanitary method are known in the art.
Animal waste devices comprising of a disposable baggage feature where the waste contents are stored, are known in the art. Waste devices which are portable and easily operated by the user are also known in the art.
[4] For example, US41564O2 to Jacob discloses a portable harness bag comprising a resilient frame supporting a light weight gauge plastic bag. A first tie means is connected to the hind quarters of the animal whilst the second tie means encircles the tail of the animal to retrieve and collect waste matter.
[5] Furthermore, 0S3986744 to David discloses a refuse collecting device embodying an open ended, tubular, scoop like body and has a flat bottom wall with a front edge comprising of comb like teeth. A manipulating handle overlies the top wall of the tubular body and a combined closure plate and paddle member is hinged to the top wall, being spring based to a position wherein it extends across and fully closes the open front end of the body. A paper or plastic bag constitutes a disposable receptacle receiving the scooping.
[6] Furthermore, US4335678 to Carter & Garza discloses a sanitary adjustable catcher and scooper device comprising an elongated tubular handle member with a rest bar attached to v-shaped flexible rods for purposes of retaining, closing and disposal of the attached drawstring bag.
[7] Furthermore, US6550423 to Crawford discloses an absorbent dog waste disposal pad holder having upper and lower frame members that cooperate to form a peripheral wall to securely hold the periphery of a disposable, absorbent pad in between. The frames are made of a mouldable polymeric material and have an inverted u shaped cross section.
[8] Furthermore, US6942264 to Richard discloses a disposable pet waste receptacle containing a selectively telescoping handle having a pivotal ring with a disposable bag fastened. The pivotal ring includes a double lip supporting the receptacle as well as an elastic band nestled between. The handle is attached to the lip rim with a pivoting joint device with a self locking mechanism.
[9] Furthermore, US483O4l9 to Watanabe discloses a disposable animal waste collector consisting of a collapsible scoop suitable for disposing waste with an integral handle which extends and retracts the scoop. The extended scoop is used to pull the waste within the device where it is secured by means of a sealing lip on the scoop and a locking tab on the handle.
Brief Summary and Advantages of the Invention
[10] The preceding demonstrates an essential need for a pet waste disposal device that is capable of being operated in a hygienic, convenient manner with minimal mess and odour for the benefit of the user.
[11] It would be advantageous for the excrement retainer to be portable in size and square in shape so that it can be conveniently placed within the user's pocket as well as fitting underneath the animal to contain the waste.
[12] It would be preferable for the retainer to contain a disposable baggage feature, serving as a receptacle allowing for the waste to be collected within and removed from the actual retainer base in an unsoiled state.
[13] It would be preferable for the retainer to comprise snap fit hooks which will allow for the bag to be spread flatly across the device as the clamping mechanism would be held.
[14]It would be preferable for the retainer to contain a foot pedal which is able to swiftly close the waste bag when pressed, through the release of torsion springs.
[15] It would be advantageous for the retainer to contain torsion springs on either side to allow for the clamping mechanism that forces the teeth grips together, sealing the waste bag.
[16] It would be advantageous for the retainer to comprise of teeth grips on either sides of the retainer allowing for the bag to be sealed shut, preventing the release of odours from the waste container.
Brief Descriptions of Drawings
[17] The components of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.
[18] Figure 1 displays the front isometric view of the dog waste retainer [19] Figure 2 displays the rear isometric view of the dog waste retainer including the teeth grips [20] Figure 3 displays the direct front view of the dog waste retainer including the foot pedal [21] Figure 4 displays the side view of the dog waste retainer
Detailed Description of the Invention
[22] The portable dog excrement retainer comprising a foot pedal, torsion springs, teeth gripped clamps, snap fit hooks, waste bag and retainer base are represented by isometric front, rear and side views in figures 1 to 4.
[23]The frame of the retainer is displayed in figure 1 which would preferably be a square shaped device. The size of the retainer is to be compact enough to fit within the users pocket as well as having the capability of acting as a receptacle for the dog waste.
[24] Preferably the frame structure would have the waste bag covering the top of the retainer device (1.6), overlapping the left and right clamps and edges of the retainer device and wrapped over the snap fit hook members (1.3) preventing any dog excrement from physically touching the retainer.
[25] The snap fit hook members (figure 3, 1.3) are located on all four corners of the retainer frame, with their top half compressing down the clamp members (1.2) whilst the lower half of the hooks are attached to the retainer frame, acting as a joining mechanism whilst sustaining the flat surface of the retainer, prior to the foot pedal member (1.1) being pressed.
[26] The retainer frame (figure 1) is to comprise internally of the torsion springs located on the left and right side of the retainer frame (figure 3) which is either directly or indirectly connected to the foot pedal member (1.1) by means of a wired or cord like device as well as operating the clamp members. The foot pedal is of a rectangular shape mounted directly upon the front side of the retainer device.
[27] The foot pedal member (1.1) operates the torsion springs when pressure is exerted upon it. When the foot pedal is pressed down the tension placed upon the torsion springs is released allowing the snap fit hooks (1.3) to loosen their pressure upon the clamps, releasing the spring mechanism so that the clamp members (1.2) on the left and right sides of the retainer to lift vertically and rapidly adjoin together.
[28] Teeth grips located horizontally across the edge of each clamp member (figure 2, 1.2) act to seal the disposable waste bag shut tight when the clamps are released due to their sharpened edges, causing the grips to interlock thus preventing the escape of odour and excrement when the user collects the disposable waste bag from the retainer device.
[29] As the disposable waste bag overlaps from the edges of the device, when the retainer is clamped together there is enough room left at the top of the waste bag for it to be further tied or lifted and removed hygienically from the retainer without the user having to touch the excrement loaded base of the bag.
