Abstract
A hood for a stroller, pushchair etc. comprises a basket on its upper surface so that articles may be stored and transported therein. The hood comprises frame members 8, 9 which can be attached to the stroller by means of clips 4, and is folded out to its in use position by means of release buttons 1 allowing the frames to pivot with respect to each other. A base 11 is releasably secured to the frames by means of attachments 7, said base having a plurality of struts 10 which can be pivoted into an upright position so as to define the corners of the basket. Material 6 forms the walls of the basket, and removable and washable material 5 forms the hood. The frame members may be telescopic so as to fit different size strollers, and the hood may be attached to strollers that are already provided with existing weather hoods.
Description
INTELLECTUAL
. ... PROPERTY OFFICE Application No. GB 1116609.7 RTM Date:19 December 2011 The following terms are registered trademarks and should be read as such wherever they occur in this document: Velcro Intellectual Property Office is an operating name of the Patent Office www.ipo.gov.uk Description: Pram hood with integrated shopping basket Shopping trips with a pram/pushchair/buggy can often become difficult; this is caused by lack of space for storage and the lack of room for manoeuvre in getting to place items either in a bag or on the underside bay where large items are usually stored on a pram. To overcome this, the claim offers to incorporate a pram hood into a shopping basket.
The user unfolds the unit by pressing the button (1) which in turn releases the front bar hinge (2) that locks the front frame in place. The frame works on a hinge axis (2 and 3) that allows the product to open and close by use of a two button process (1). This process is commonly used on prams to deploy hoods.
When the frame is locked into its opened position the user can apply the basket by clipping the basket clips (7), which are located on the front and back side of the basket base (11), to both the front frame (8) and back frame (9). The basket base (11) is attached to the rear bar (9) and the user simply raises the front of the basket and clips it to the front bar (8), creating the flat top on the frame.
The unit is easily attached and detached by use of the unit to pram clips (4 and 12). The frame (7 and 9) is adjustable to fit a broad range of pram designs; the unit is adjustable in height and width by means of a telescopic mechanism that is easily operated by use of a standard spring clip.
When closed the unit lays flat with the closed basket located between the front and rear bars of the frame (see figure 7), when opened the frame forms a sturdy form to support the attached basket (see figures 2, 5 and 6). The frame of the hood will be constructed from bent steel tube (8 and 9) for strength and rigidity. There is an opening on the front of the frame that allows easy access to the child. Within the frame will be a pull out sun visor/shade for greater protection against the elements. The unit will work on any pram and will fit over the hood that is pre-attached to the pram (see figure 2).
The basket is located on the top of the hood which is made from a solid plastic base and material sides that is supported by the V shaped frame of the hood. The base of the basket is detachable and uses a clip mechanism (7) to attach to the front and back bar of the V frame. The back clip of the basket will be secured to the back bar of the frame (see figure 8). The basket is supported by vertical struts (10) that operate through a manual operation (see figure 9 and 10).
The struts on the upper side of the basket (10) have the four sides of the basket (6) pre-attached to the poles of the strut. To operate the strut from a flat position to an upright position the user needs to pull the strut out from its hinge, the strut can then move on an axis and lock into a vertical position (see figures 9 and 10). The raising of all four struts creates the form of basket (see figure 11).
The cover on the frame (5) will be made from a soft washable material that is removable by means of Velcro straps.
The process of unit frame and basket unfolding is shown in figures 3,4,5,6, 9 and 10.
An example of the invention will be described by referring to the accompanied drawings.
