Abstract
248,293. Royce, F. H. Dec. 9, 1924. Springs, arrangement of and mounting bodies on.-The body-frame of a motor vehicle is rigidly connected to the chassis - frame at the rear, and is supported at the front on rubber blocks and held down by metallic compression springs. The rigid connections comprise angle brackets secured to the chassis-frame and connected by bolts to the body-frame. The resilient connections at the front comprise a bracket d, Fig. 1, secured to the chassis a and supporting a rubber block d<4> arranged between dished washers d<5>, d<7> with the body-frame b resting on the washer d'. A bolt d<10> is passed through the body-member c, body-frame b, and a sleeve inserted through the block d<4>, the body-frame being held down on the block by a compression spring d<13>. The scuttle f<2>, Fig. 3, on the body is separated from the dash-board f by a rubber block g, a bolt g<6> being passed through the dashboard f, block g, the scuttle frame, and a second block g on the inside of the scuttle. The head of the bolt is partly spherical and engages a correspondingly shaped seating g<1> on the dash board. The blocks are interposed between washers g<2>, g<3>, g<5>, of which g<3> is flanged to engage the aperture in the scuttle frame.
