Abstract

A liquid transfer means for controlling the flow of liquid between two containers or to one container from a liquid source comprises a first container 6, a first pipeline 14 and a control unit 15. The first pipeline 14 may be connected directly to a source of liquid 20 or to a second container 2 which is filled by liquid from source 20 via a second pipeline 1. The first container 6 maybe mounted on resilient means.

Description

This application is concerned with plant irrigation and in particular to the plant irrigation system described in the UK patent applIcation GB 0918808.7 and more particularly the liquid transfer means described in the said application.
A problem with the liquid transfer means in the said patent application is the lack of liquid flow control of a precise nature between the first liquid container and the second liquid container.
Another problem with the said transfer means is that the system cannot work without the use of the two containers.
It is an object of the present invention to overcome the afore mentioned problems.
Accordingly there is provided by the present invention a liquid transfer means suitable for use in the ystern described in UK patent application GB 0918808.7 and capable of operating with one container only, comprising: a liquid control unit mounted on a pipeway liquid container means and a liquid source means. The arrangement in a first embodiment being such that when liquid enters the first container it flows out of the container via a pipeway situated at the bottom of the said container and through the control valve mounted on the pipeway and into the second container at a rate controlled by the said valve.
The arrangement in a second embodiment dispenses with the first container and the pipeway and valve that is connected to the liquid source and the second container.
Embodiments of the invention will now be described by example only and with reference to the accompanying drawing which shows the invention in situ between two liquid containers and with,.
numbers appertaining to its parts and with indications of liquid flow direction shown by arrowheads.
in a first embodiment, the invention could work as follows: As liquid from the liquid source 20 via pipeway 1 fills the first container it enters the pipeway 14 and via the flow control unit 15 that controls the rate of flow, it fills the container 6.
In a second embodiment the first container is omitted allowing the second container to be connected by the invention to a liquid source.
